Saturday Scraps in These titles mean nothing.

Less early - less cold. It’s all of 25 degrees at 6 am according to the lazy on-line woman’s resource. Wind is 4 mph from the north and humidity is 76%.

I’m in the basement. There is no fire this morning yet. The house retains some warmth and the heat wave outside is helping too.

Since it’s the weekend…

  • there is no out the door deadline. That means no pressure for this little task either. I will have to develop my own resolve to get it done.

  • there is cat activity in the cat food bag. There is not an overwhelming cat presence.

  • I need to buy groceries, Either locally or as part of that trip to find a place to sit down and have a pleasant person bring me something to eat. I am in need of most things - but not in desperate need, if that makes any sense. The meat counter at Fareway was really busy when I was there a week ago yesterday afternoon. Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings are busy times there. Funny how traditional we are. I resolved not to shop when everyone else was shopping and I won’t. If I go there today I’ll wait till afternoon when it clears out a bit.

  • there is a hockey game in Lacrosse tonight. Jim did not fall in love with hockey. I am open to new experience and it was good but I am not a pusher. We have decided that when we go again we are sitting at the other/far end of the place or the first and maybe second third and then watching the last part from the lunch room which is at ice level behind the goal nearest the entrance. That’s what we did last time and it was fun. You are really close. The need to excite up the Zamboni though. It needs dancing girls. (Please keep in mind this is a neighborhood, multi-purpose rink, and we are to the bone Loggers fans.)

  • diet/habit update. Gradual starting last fall, and totally since the first of the year, I have given up m food resolves. I am not eating everything and quite a bit of it. Results being I have grown out of my jeans. I suppose it had to happen because when I was wheat and sugar free, the main and only results were that I could get into my jeans. So I did what a normal person would do - I bought bigger pants. I don’t like that as a solution. The bigger ones get tight too. But I don’t know what to do about it. I don’t want to go back to not eating wheat or sugar, or buying from vending machines, or not drinking pop (I now limit myself to one of Jim’s sugar pops a day, but sometimes I feel the creep of total soda immersion coming on. Damn. I quit drinking pop to save money, Not that I can ever tell if I’m saving money. I do not pay enough attention.)

  • I called the doctor’s nurse yesterday to see about the results of a breathing test I had in October. I wondered if it said I could use an inhaler, and if so should I get one? I got no response but I called mid-afternoon so it may still be coming. Maybe Monday. It might involve a visit to the doctor.

  • Plumbing is gurgling. Not mine, but the house’s. The water pressure tank is in one corner of the room I’m in, to the right of the furnace. Water heater is to the left. The water heater is the one my dad bought in the early 1950s. It makes very hot water. The pressure tank receives water from the well - and calls for it when it needs it. It has a bladder inside that pushes against the water and provides PRESSURE so the water will come out of the faucets upstairs. It’s a magic thing that is totally taken for granted - when it works which is almost always. We used to have galvanized tanks but they tended to spring leaks and needed to be replaced every few years. Now we have a brown enamel coated one and it’s been more durable. Having your own water system is a trial. I used to lay awake worrying about the well running out of water. I stopped doing that when I got on the internet. I traded one total waste of mental energy for another.

With that little bit of depressing wisdom, I am off to make coffee and peanut butter on toast, and maybe have my sugar Pepsi of the day. Life has no limits. Not today anyway.
