I was amused a little as the EED opinions were leaning toward Lee and the PB opinions were sharing they had latchkey kids and some at a much younger age.
So thank all for taking the time to share your thoughts on this situation that I’m sure affect many people and not just my family.

I must admit the more I thought about Lee’s call the more aggravated at HER I became. She has involved herself in situations with her daughter on several occasions which has caused rifts at times. I believe she is wanting me to tell them what they should or shouldn’t do and I’m not going to be sucked into it. I know my DIL and my son and I believe that they have prayed about this and decided to try this a little at a time. A couple of hours or less after school is the perfect way to do a trial. An occasional longer time to see how things go seems to be an expansion of the trial period.
Now, let me say this. I don’t always like or agree with my adult children on how they do at times in rearing their children. However, if it is something I consider “over the top” then I talk about it to THEM. Not others. They, thankfully understand where my heart is, and I try not to be critical but to provide them alternate choices. I believe Lee wanted me to volunteer to watch the kids on Saturdays. So she could feel better. And yes she does have some valid concerns. I did too when I started leave the two older kids by themselves and especially when I started allowing J to stay home by himself on his days off. I believe I was praying in a steady stream in the beginning. I called him to check on his so much that HE got irritated with the calls.
When the opportunity presents itself I will mention an emergency plan, phone numbers, neighbors, etc. I’m betting they’ve already talking with the next door neighbor lady and the neighbor across the street, but I will check anyway.

So I cleaned yesterday. Started in the kitchen and had to make myself stay on track. I’m so easily distracted that I would find myself doing something on another room. Pfffft! Can’t get anything completed if you flit from one thing to another or at least it will take twice as long. I did get the kitchen in good shape and then started on the utility room. Geeze. Got about 1/2 of it done and it isn’t the dirt, it is the stuff I sit on the counters to put away “later”. Later was yesterday. I still have a large electric cooker to put somewhere. Heh! That is the problem as I’m not sure where I’m going to put it. I’ll figure it out and then promptly forget where I ended up storing it. Even if it’s in plain sight, I’ll have a bugger of a time finding it when I need it.
Swept and vacuumed the living room, kitchen, and utility area. May try out my huge mop today but not sure. I had a wild hair and bought an industrial size string mop at the lumber yard this past summer. Duh....how to wring it out will be an event I’m sure, but it should make my floors extra clean. If I can wring it lift it after it is wet. lol May have to buy one of those squeeze buckets. Hope not, but maybe.

I was going to share more stuff, but not sure what it was now. Oh, daughter left me a plate of chocolate covered strawberries yesterday morning for Valentine’s Day. I ended up going to Walmart yesterday morning for cat and dog food and some bananas. When I returned home they were on my counter. Tasty!! She makes them for special occasions and she had some left over from another event and I was the happy receiver!

Snow is supposed to start this afternoon. The predictions of how much are all over the place but it is staying in inches and not FEET!

Take care and God Bless
