Saturday morning we woke up early, because Joaquin went to bed early the night before. We headed to the gym and I cranked out 6 miles, which is the longest run I’ve had since my last half marathon, which was about a month ago. It felt perfect and overdue. I showered at the gym, and ran out to the mall while Aaron finished his workout / shower and grabbed new Swim Things and Ninja Turtle pajamas, with a cape (for Joaquin, not me). I grabbed a turkey wrap and some salt & vinegar chips for me, a giant turkey sub and some Sun Chips for Aaron and a cookie for Joaquin from some sub place in the mall (Jersey Mike’s?) and met the boys in the car. Joaquin was already happily munching on the lunch we packed for him, and we were off to the desert!
The drive was pleasant, considering Joaquin didn’t nap out as we expected him to; he was way too excited.
We arrived around 1:30p to Mitch & Geni’s place and settled in. Joaquin and his buddy, Micah were so excited to see each other. They just ran around and sqee’d for awhile and then started throwing things in the pool. It was WAY too cold to swim in it, even though it 85 degrees.
Oh well, we found lots of other things to get into.
We hung out for a bit and then Geni and I went shopping for a few hours while the guys hung out with the little guys. We came back from a nice shopping trip and got ready to go to dinner.
We ate at Wolfgang Puck’s Pizza Bar, and it was delicious. The little boys got restless and annoying about halfway through, so it wasn’t relaxing by any means, but the yum made it worth it. We headed home got the boys in the tub and in their pajamas (NINJA TURTLE JAMMIES! WITH A CAPE!) and then snuggled with them for a bit before putting them in bed for the night.
Then the adults got to have some relaxation time until I hit my wall earlier than everyone else and called it a night. I KNEW JRB was going to be up super early, so I wanted to get some extra zzzzs. Sure enough he started fussing around 6a, so I went in and grabbed him and brought him into the living room to watch some sunday morning cartoons.
Micah also woke up early, so miraculously, we were able to get feed everyone, clean the house, get ready and walk out the door by 9a. We headed to the Living Desert Zoo for our morning adventure.
The boys loved it - there were reptiles, big cats, giraffes, etc. to see, plus there was a 30-minute dinosaur ‘show’ that was actually pretty cute.
They rode the carousel and ran around with glee. It was a lovely morning.
Around 12 we decided to call it a day as we all had things we wanted to get done before the beginning of the work week.
We got home around 2:30p; Aaron went for a run while Joaquin and I basked in the sun and played with a variety of his dinosaurs and ninja turtles.
When Aaron got back, I started prepping for another plated.com receipe; the meal du jour was a white pizza (mozzarella + blue cheese) with buffalo chicken and yogurt ranch. IT was seriously yummy, if I do say so myself. It definitely tasted way better than it looked, trust me ;)
Eventually we got the kid to bed and we settled in for the second half Walking Dead premiere.
It was another early night because we were exhausted.
Today was crazy busy; I was going to go to the gym but I just did a short strength workout instead. Now I’m catching up on more work / prepping for the craziness ahead and watching some mindless TV. Because. TV.
Nite!

I love it when full days happen. Feels like the week goes slower because of 'em.
