These winter weeks seem to pass rather quietly, my Daughter and I have our round of craft or art classes, and our dogs agility classes; weather permitting. Also there are walks on the beach come dull or sunny days, today we got up to white patches across the valley where the sun hasn’t had the touch of the morning sun; our side!

It was not snow but more hailstones, when I took the dogs out last thing the patio was damp, the hail must have arrived early this morning when the temperature falls, so the patio, the steps and drive are very icy, strangely the best way to take the dogs out was a rout round the edge of the patio [quite slippery] and up the steps [clear of ice] to the small central lawn under the trees.

I have photographs from the last eight days, so it’s time for me to catch-up, I need to go out for logs, these cold nights we need extra warmth, I’ll let the sun do it’s thing over our ice; then I shall get off ….

28 January, a cold dull day and a strong northern wind driving the waves up the beach.

30th January, the clouds were less dense, it was still the same cold wind from the north.

1st February, much like the 28th but the clouds have parted, it was a sunny cold day!

And there was the 26th January and Lola’s trip to her groomer, but this time it was a new groomer much closer to home, so it’s goodbye to the groomer with a view of the sea; the girls seemed happy with Lola’s cut – and not to short with the northern wind blowing very where.

Lola happy.

All was fine until some one said there more Lola under Lola’s fir than they expected!

Lola not so ….

Note, after a walk with Ziggy this morning, we could see there more weather than we thought!

I thoroughly enjoyed all these images, especially the one of the beach and clouds 3 above the ones of Lola. The way you create a panorama always gives a greater sense of being there...widening our horizons as our eyes do. Thank you. Keep warm. hugs p

I see several windmills (aka wind turbines) in some pictures. Do these cause any problems?

jamez TruNorth ⋅ February 04, 2015

RYNote. Over the last ten or more years the number of wind turbines as grown hugely, as for problems I’ve heard the wash of the blades came harm or kill birds close to the turbines, also some have complained of noise from them; but myself I don’t near close to them and will keep them in mind when I next move – a house as far as possible from then.

Last years I think one lost a blade and an other collapsed, the owners are paid when the turbines are working and again when the grid cant take the power, for most people who’s work or services are not needed the government is not so keen to support them. So those who are having problems with the turbines are paying twice.

Now as well as having miles of wind turbines across our countryside and fields of solar panels we are also having fracking for oil and gas, all this while we are being told we are going green, so if we are going green why are we blowing up the county to get oil; I wonder which green they think we are! So here we are paying for the green agenda and for oil we’re told we can’t use because of global warming!!!!!

From now on I will think of how thrilled the new residents in the new buildings must be, perhaps fulfilling their lifelong dream of being in Cornwall on the water. Do you know who is moving in? // Sometimes your pictures can make me want to put a jacket on. Know it is much colder on the water and almost always wind, isn't there? // The sun in the clouds picture I label "Ascension Clouds." // The person that made the weight comment to Lola has never seen her at agility class and doesn't know she won First Place. That's right, Lola, give her The Look!

A wow morning, the first day of March has began with a bright cool morning, my Railway Poster’s Colander has a thirties image of Bideford to enjoy through the month, and the cherry on the pie is thirteen notes to read; it is really nice to have you up and writing again.

I’ve read five, but I have to be ready for the off, yes it’s Sunday and Ziggy’s agility day, I stay in the car for this one; he doesn’t need extra distraction! I hope you are well in body and mind, and I wish your spring isn’t to far behind ours!

Good for March! She was kind to us yesterday and today (we had 24'F!!), but tonight there may be freezing rain so we got all the essentials purchased. Certainly won't be one of those nitwits heading out on "black ice." // Speaking of driving conditions. Is Britain eliminating or decreasing its "traffic circles"? Or have I imagined that? I ask because there is a six lane highway through our town, connecting with the adjacent city. Recently the City Council voted to change from street lights to traffic circles, which shocked us. This is a very busy road leading to malls and countless businesses. They recently built a traffic circle on a near empty road and apparently Americans cannot read "Yield" or "15mph"!! I've had and watched some hair raising interludes at that circle and can envision cars flying off in all directions on the busier, wider highway!!

Answers and comments.

I think it was Sweetheart who commented on the amount of Lula within the fur, Ziggy misses food Lola never!

I like both mediums but I seem to be having better results with acrylic just now, my Daughter gets equally wonderful results with both. I shall show the evidence soon!

About four years ago we had a hard winter, I bought a heavy coat to keep me warm, I think I’ve worn it twice sine; and I took a lot of snow and frost photographs!

Mark Williams, he was Arthur Weasley in all seven Harry Potter films, and in several episodes of Doctor Who was the father of companion Rory Williams, who was played by Arthur Darvill who has been the Vicar in Broadchurch! Wikipedia says he is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter and presenter, he is a great caricature actor!

Don’t worry about the physics, I do! GRB 08031 9B was just the biggest bang in history; and gave Arthur C Clark a fantastic send off ……

I miss Dad for very thing he was, two things were walking through the garden, walks and tips all the way, and for his knowledge of birds. When I’m out on a clear winter night, and I look up at the Pleiades, an open star cluster that some can see five six or seven stars, some people call it the Seven Stars, there are over a 1000 stars many to dim to see with the naked eye, but there is 14 bright blue stars, I could see more years age, seven of the bright have the out line of a butchers clever; Dad always called them the Butchers Clever. And that’s three …..

Lola can spoil an evening, anything remotely like an animal on the television gets a royal barking at …..

Lola’s winner’s sash was to big on Ziggy! I suppose Jo didn’t expect a Lola sized winner ….

I’ve been out in Truro today, first thing it was cold, then we had a little rain as I set off, while I was in the city the sky was a dark grey followed by a bright blue, I suppose it was an early March spring; I was thankfully for that.

Your Father is a man to be missed. He must have felt pleased to have such a willing student for a son. You share many of his passions. Tom has a good memory for stars and has pointed out many, including the Pleiades. However, the thing that makes the Pleiades stand out in my mind is that my Sister believes she originated from them. It's a crazy California thing. This group of Pleiadeans even have a newsletter. I shake my head and tell people and we all laugh.
It takes all kinds and if you have a Sister like I do and put her in California for thirty years you'll hear about them all!

Our March weather is going rather fickle, our days have some spring hours and some winter to keep us on our toes, just as I was getting out of bed this morning a wintery storm hit the valley, I took a quick peek between the curtains – hailstones everywhere! Twenty minutes later I was washed and dressed, I looked out of several windows and there was no hailstones anywhere; but it felt rather cold when I took Ziggy out.

California has that reputation over here, but also you can find some California here in the UK! Of course our bodies have elements made in stars, as it has been said ‘we are made of stardust’ but the Butchers Clever is some 444 light years of, quite close against the size of the Milky Way; but we could have some dust from Proxima Centauri only 4.24 Light years away – 93 million miles!

I shall find an illustration of Cornwall’s double traffic islands, with those you can go round or through depending where your going! These are only found in Cornwall and I ‘think’ they not adding any new ones; I’m used to them now and in the flow ……. But some new traffic lights on new road junctions can be very strange, waiting at a red light there can be several sets of lights in-front of you, you should only go when the nearest lights turn green; but I have seen people looking at the second set and drive off through redlights!

Tick Tock Tick jamez ⋅ March 03, 2015

Yes, it would interest (and scare) me to see Cornwall's unique road system to torment tourists! As far as the lights ahead, I once accidentally did what you describe, looking at the wrong light. I was fortunate that no one was coming but it was a "slap my hand over my mouth" moment, for sure.
We awoke to similar weather although we got up about 11:00 AM so our hail and ice easily slipped off our vehicles then. Drips are droppings from our eaves now but tonight the temperatures will plummet and then in a couple days we head into a warming trend. River days approach!
A cold has been lurking quietly and I thought it might pass me by but yesterday the full force attack came. I am grateful to be unencumbered by responsibility and sit, drink my fluids and read the New York Times while the virus dances.
Stay well.

No need for rational thought among the Peladians, I'm certain. My Sister shares a huge disdain for rational thought and science which drives me nuts, but she is onboard with evolution and is a staunch Democrat. Occasionally she shares letter the Pelaidians receive from "Michael" who seems to be the guru. I don't believe he is seen, he e-mails from outer space, I guess. He was a strong supporter of President Obama! Better the nutheads be of my political mind, at least!
