With our food delivery being canceled we needed a few things, bread cake and firelighters make an odd list; perhaps a hot meal. Sweetheart wanted to walk Lola so we went together, we parked in the back car park and walked down to the sea front, and walked past the beach toilet block that is being upgrading. We were a little surprised to see a first floor being added to a once single story building.
We knew they were adding showers for people coming off the beach, thus leaving the sand near the beach, but we couldn’t see them having the showers upstairs, so what would be built over toilets, a shop or café must be out as would be an apartment; surly not! In front of the building site there are parked leased toilets to serve the needs of locals and visits.
While I was in the area I looked around for a notice, and there was a single A4 sheet, there will be an office and a meting hall for the ‘Perranporth Gardens Charities’ The Charities were setup in 1875, and down the years these charities have been very good for Perranporth, acquiring land along the sea front, and making areas for locals and visitors to enjoy the beach. With out those people working through the charities all those years, Perranporth could have been much different, no sea front car park.
The first toilets were built in the 1920’s when Perranporth was going though a time when the town was growing, they were rebuilt in 1950; and now in 2014 – 15 they are being upgraded again. Over the years the various charities have come together, in ten years they will be able to celebrate 150 years of good work.
I walk with Sweetheart and Lola to the beach, the day looks a little dull, also there is a cold wind blowing in off the sea, when that happens it means we have a wind from the North, cold now and if the weather forecast is right there could be worst to come!
At this point I spilt from the girls and headed towards the Co-op with my odd list in my head, and I got every thing of the list …!!
Perranporth’s three mile beach on 26 January 2015, and I didn’t touch the sand.
Five weeks and it will be March (c8
