19th January 2015.

Not quite what we expected, Monday morning and the bin lorry is due but there well be no any bins out from us, I tried the footing on the steps and I doubt I would complete the decent on my feet! It’s one of those icy morning that shouldn’t last to long, we must have had a generous fall of hailstones, and perhaps a little rain just when the temperature dipped below zero; and here we are ready to do the Torvill and Dean in the horizontal!

When I opened the BBC News site they had a beautiful image of a country view seen over a lake, the colours were shades of black, blue and white; the colours of a frosty winters day! A quick scan of the article mentions -12c in the Scotland’s Highlands, Ireland and Wales -7c and on down to places south -2c, I expect we nearly make the latter! So I don’t complain, as I don’t have to go out; and haven’t!

16th January 2015.

It was a trip east today, Ziggy is off to see his lady, he knows the rout now and gets excited once we are with in tens miles. The Lady has a dogs grooming bigness called Mutts Cuts or Cuts Must, the lady is slim and young and has one or two Breaded Collies; thus she knows the ways of the bread.

The grooming is dun in a cabin well away from the road, Ziggy seems keen to go with her, and is just as keen to go home as show of his wash and cut. Lola came with us and while Ziggy is being groomed Lola has a walk with our Daughter, today Ziggy had the best of the deal; one the walk Lola and Daughter had rain and hail to put up with.

Lola retuned to the car looking very wet and very cold, at lest there was a towel in the car, Lola enjoys being towelled down, I have some shortbread with me knowing Lola’s liking; half a biscuit soon diapered in short order! By then it was time to collect Ziggy from the groomers.

As usual Ziggy has been well behaved for the groomer, but now Ziggy is ready to go home. Once home one shows off one’s nicely groomed coat, then the groomed and the not are ready to relax; and so are we!

Summertime!

If you are ok to staying up late the BBC dose have some wonderful programs, I look through the weeks coming programs in the Daily Mails television guide, but I don’t see these little ‘gem’s’ of a program. Last week discovered this program about ‘Summertime’ composed by George Gershwin and lyrics by DuBose Heyward in 1933.

Summertime was written for the opera Porgy and Bess, but the song has gone on to have a life of its own, and rearranged for all styles of music, blues, jazz, African American spiritual and even in to a Ukrainian Yiddish Lullaby. The song has been recorded by over 25.000 arties, and is still being recorded today.
