Forty days. in A small but passable life.

It was warm enough to hang out at the pool yesterday. It’s supposed to be even warmer this afternoon. It looks like at least the whole coming week will be warm enough for a few hours every afternoon at the pool.

Mom and I did some errand running the day before yesterday. For lunch we went somewhere I’d never eaten before- Jack in the Box. It was a really nice cheeseburger. Mom couldn’t eat all hers and had to bring leftovers home.

We mailed off another box to Jassy. A “Medium” sized one rather than large this time.

We went to Walmart. Mom bought me a set of Koss headphones for $5 and a 32g micro SD card for $12.88. She bought a new toilet seat for Five something. I still need to put that on for her.

We went to Bed Bath and Beyond. Mom bought a new bath rug and towel set. Everything was on clearance so she only spent $25.

We took the old batteries to her little scooter to the recycling place. We ended up getting $2.10, at fifteen cents a pound. Not bad.

We’ve replaced the most used light bulbs in Mom’s place with LED’s. Three 40w in the bathroom and two 40w in the kitchen. They only use a little over four watts and are supposed to last almost twenty years. We put a 60w equivalent in the living room lamp. The lamp is a three-way but we can’t find a three-way in any store we’ve been in. They have them on Amazon. They are usually 40w/75w/100w and about $20. The 60w will do for now. I’m really impressed by the look of the illumination. It’s kind of like when I went from a incandescent bulb to LED bulbs in my headlamp. There’s just no comparison in the quality of light and power consumption.

Mom has her electric bill averaged for the year so this little savings might add up. Right now her bill is a little over $70 a month and it is the only utility bill she pays.

Jassy called Wednesday night and said her first day of classes Tuesday went just fine. I’m so glad she’s back in school.

Right now it is 60 degrees at 10:10am. A couple of more hours and it should be warm enough to head to the pool.

Forty days until I’m back in the Ozark’s for the last two weeks of Winter.
