I don’t know why I’m suddenly having so much trouble with putting entries in. I’m reading y’all, just not noting much. (I hope to get caught up on that tonight.) I don’t know, just so many things in my head lately. It’s been a rough couple of weeks at work and some things at home, nothing major, just enough to throw me off my game. I spend a lot of my life telling others that everything is going to be fine, just hang in there, and that I’m good, usually I believe it, but then at times, it just all catches up with me and I can’t put the front on.
Anyway, there’s no way to catch up on everything that’s been going on, so I thought I’d share some pictures.
The other day was a gorgeous day, and I couldn’t stay home any more. I loaded up and drove to a nearby deserted military base from WW2. There’s 3 geocaches there. Cbaby and I found one of them a couple of years ago. I found one of the other ones out in the open. They’d had a controlled burn in there recently and it didn’t fare well. It was really hard to get open (all the ones I’ve found have been in old ammo cases like this, but this one was warped because of the fire). Everything in it had either melted or gotten stuck together by the things that melted.
On of the trails I came across this. Not at all what I would have expected to see. I said a prayer for whoever it was there for , took the picture, and moved on. To be honest, it freaked me out just a little to find this in the middle of the woods.
Just a few pictures from the day. I wish the camera would have picked up the colors I had seen. The sky was so blue. I love seeing a blue sky through pine trees.
Saturday I went to my parents’ to bring the kids their Valentines goodies and to see Tootie before she leaves on her next trip (she took a month’s leave of absence to see if she can figure out what she wants to do - Yep - that would be part of the stress). Anyway, got to spend some time with Bubba and the kids (and his wife). They are becoming foster parents to her 14 year old cousin. Bubba is so excited and the home he was in was terrible (no running water, no electricity, no refrigerator, etc). Anyway - got to spend some time with this midget (and Angel who I didn’t get any pictures of with my iPad).
Thursday would have been Gram’s 100th birthday. This summer will mark the 10th anniversary of her going home. That hit me harder than I expected it to. It didn’t help that the same day I found out that the lady who used to babysit me when I was really young (the one we got Butterball from) passed away earlier in the week and I didn’t hear about it in time, so I didn’t get to go to the funeral. It was an emotional day.
Here’s one of my favorite pictures of Gram and my mom.
So, there’s some catching up. I’m cleaning for Suddenlink to come in tomorrow to replace my modem. I was supposed to be able to go online and get it for free with no problems. The code on the letter was wrong, so I called and they said because of “signal issues” in my area they would have to send a tech out to set it up. Considering the last 2 told me I was still at legal speeds, but below what they wanted their customers to be - I’m not holding my breath for much more speed. Ehhh at least it’s making me vacuum my baseboards and clean shelves that have been piled with crap for months.
