Seriously. in A small but passable life.

Yesterday I finished painting the living room and getting everything put back in order. It really looks nice except for a tiny bit of paint that had seeped under the masking tape. No big deal. I’ll just chip it off with an Xacto knife.

I taped the bathroom and started painting with the darker shade of green until I ran out of paint. I don’t like it. It’s too dark and isn’t covering well. I’ll go back to the lighter shade as soon as we get another quart.

It was too cloudy and cool to go hang out at the pool. So I just picked the book back up.

One of Mom’s friends called, bored, wanting to get a game up. So we went over to one of the rooms in the activity complex and played Rummikub for a couple of hours. I didn’t win, but didn’t come in last place either. A good game.

When we got back home there was a message from Jassy on the machine. She guessed correctly that we were probably out playing Rummikub. She never did call back. I guess I could have called her back on Mom’s cell phone, but she has a smart phone and I don’t know how to use it.

This morning Mom left to go do something. Jassy has called and we talked for quite a while. They got their books yesterday. They are ready to start their classes now.

Jassy got the old school Nook working. It wouldn’t hold a charge for me, but she says it is doing fine now. I’m glad she’s using it. So now, between us, we’ve got 3 e-readers, 2 tablets, and 2 laptops. And I’ll let her use one of my iPod Shuffles when I get back home.

It’s almost noon and it’s 65 degrees outside. It is 23 degrees back home and an hour later. It just seems surreal being this warm in winter. Why doesn’t everybody live here? At least during the winter? I may just make a habit of this. I wouldn’t mind being homeless here, even without the van to sleep in. I think I could do it.

So yeah, I need to get up and get dressed because Mom will be ready to go to Lowe’s when she gets home. One more quart of paint and we’ll be done. She has several other little projects she wants done, but nothing major. I’ve got about six weeks left until I fly back east.

There is a Domino’s group here that plays on Tuesday afternoon. I’m thinking about checking that out. I’d like to play but sometimes players toke Dominoes a little too seriously. Seriously, they do. I’ll go watch for a bit. See how dangerous the vibe is?

Anyway, got to get up and get moving.
