Lovely. in A small but passable life.

I finished painting. Mom is happy with how it turned out. It only took me five weeks. Actual work time was probably less than forty hours. Not too bad.

I finished reading “Under the Banner of Heaven” by Jon Krakauer. I’d put this book right up there with “Going Clear” which was about the Scientologists. It has always amazed me how these cultural memes get started and grow and mutate. Fascinating.

Riding around with Mom on errands I’m completely lost. This city is so bland and nondescript it boggles my mind. Every strip mall and every intersection looks exactly the same. Add the fact that everything out this far from the city center is less than a couple of dozen years old and is the same style which makes it even more homogeneous. And why is everything brown? Always some shade of brown.

I’ve been sitting in this chair all day today. I never even changed out of my pajama pants. Why not? I did internet stuff this morning. I read for most of the day. And now I’m finishing up with internet stuff. Mom had the six hour movie “Lonesome Dove” on VHS on all afternoon. Loved that book! Love that movie!

Tomorrow I’ve got to go over and move some furniture for one of our Rummikub players. Her husband moved her couch and she wants it moved back. So after her husband leaves to go play golf we’ll move it back. Whatever. Something to do I guess.

It hasn’t been warm enough to hang out at the pool. The pool is heated and there’s the hot tub, but I kind of like hot days and sunshine.

It started raining a couple of hours ago. And it’s 57 degrees right now at 10:22pm. A nice desert night.

The tablet Mom bought me has only 8 gigs of memory. I tried to add the Pandora app and it didn’t have enough memory. I found out that right now it has only 153mb of free memory. I guess I need to start deleting the crap I’ll never use. Or buy a micro sd card.

I’ve decided to try Pandora because iTunes has done something with it’s last upgrade to disappear the music streams. Or I just can’t find them. Oh well, iTunes always stuttered whenever you loaded other pages while surfing the web. And so far Pandora doesn’t do that. And I like what Pandora has been offering up. I’ve thumbed up everything so far. And I’ve thrown in a very wide variety in the “add variety” box.

I can’t believe I haven’t slept in past 8am the whole time I’ve been here. I’m used to sleeping from midnight until noon all through the winter. Now I’m getting up before the sunrise. Crazy.

Pandora seems to be having a mental breakdown. Lovely. Chevelle’s “Face to the Floor” to Jessie J’s “Who You Are” to Tool’s “Swamp Song”.
