New Year's Eve! in A small but passable life.

Yesterday I painted the living room. I finished off the second 60 yard roll of masking tape and started on the third roll. Ridiculous.
I started about 10am and finished about 4pm. I had everything painted, the tape peeled off and the furniture moved back and the curtains re-hung. I went over to the shower house for a long hot shower. Mom made cheeseburgers and tots for supper and then we went over to play Rummikub. There were four tables of four players each again. We played for two hours. I ended in second place only five points from winning. Nice.
Mom has filled a large flat rate box with odds and ends for Jassy. Cook books, knick-knacks, and all kinds of detritus from her many cabinets and cupboards. It should be going into the mail Monday.
Today Mom and I have done not much of anything. She did go out to check her mailbox and to scoop up the paper from the driveway.
I found a picture of Mom’s place. It was taken in 2001. That palm tree in front is now as tall as the roof.
A storm entered the Valley of the Sun today. Wind, rain, and low clouds. With a high temp in the fifties it felt like an Ozark’s Fall day. Strange. It is supposed to drop down to freezing tonight. We’ll see if there is snow on Superstition mountain by morning. Mom has seen it before, but I haven’t.
But of course it is supposed to be back up into the mid-sixties by Monday or Tuesday. Crazy, but I’m not complaining.
I’ve got some darker accents left to paint in the living room and the bathroom and Mom’s bedroom closet left to paint. And two months left to get it done.
Shelfari says I’ve read 53 books in 2014, the same as 2013. I guess that’s not too slow. It was those 14 Wheel of Time books during both of those years that slowed me down.
So yeah, we’re sitting here waiting for the ball to drop at 10pm (Mountain Time), and then we’ll probably call it a night.
Mom is playing pet rescue on her phone. I’ve got dishes to wash so I’ll sign off with a “Happy New Year’s!” to everyone. Stay safe! And remember, alcohol is a poison!
