What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?
I rode Amtrack. Not a very long trip but it was very pleasant.

Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I gave up all my resolutions/life improvements except I’m still not drinking diet pop - so far. I don’t plan to make any resolutions this year.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Ny niece had a baby this year too.

Did anyone close to you die?
Not anyone very close to me.

What countries did you visit?
None. I stayed home, pretty much.

What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
More exercise.

What date(s) from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I can’t think of any.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I managed to stay employed.

What was your biggest failure?
I missed several days on 750words.com. It’s not a big thing but I should have been able to keep it up.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
If I did it was my own fault.

What was the best thing you bought?
My Salter books.

Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Both my sons are good men and I am proud of them.

Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
I was not happy with the way the election turned out this year.

Where did most of your money go?
Food, books, an expensive tooth, savings, taxes.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The beauty of the world I live in.

What song(s) will always remind you of 2014?
Springsteen and Beatles on the radio at work.

Various work mistakes.

No.

I don’t watch tv. But I did watch a fair amount of youtube in the middle of the night. Old stuff.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No.

What was the best book you read?
Salter’s Light Years.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
I’m not much of a music person.

What did you want and get?
I kept my job.

What did you want and not get?
More exercise.

What was your favourite film of this year?
I guess I should list some of what I watched on youtube but I’m not in the mood. Most recent things were interviews of Luci and Lynda Johnson.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I don’t remember my birthday. I was 68.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A sharper focus.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
Being able to fit into my jeans......

What kept you sane?
Friendship.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I find this one hard to answer. I’ll come back if I think of any.

What political issue stirred you the most?
The right’s attack on government.

Who did you miss?
Some of my old fellow workers.

Who was the best new person you met?
I met friendly people at my new job.

I won’t live forever.

One more year.
