It’s Saturday, I know it’s Saturday yet it doesn’t feel like Saturday, it’s not the first Christmas I’ve felt that way; it’s just being out of the usual weekly routine. It was about this time of Christmas that late Par-in-law would say ‘well that’s over for another year’ new year he never really bothered with, he always went to bed well before mid-night; telling us ‘it was just another day’

In a way he was quite right, after all each day is just another day, unless you decide to make a day a special, I like special days as they give the year a shape, after New Year Easter stands ahead and beyond is May Day and so on. One marker I have given up on is ‘The New Year sales’ that now seem to start some time in December; I never found what I wanted in a new year sale.

Most items I bought in a new year sale were dumped when we left Stockport, items that would come under a saying a friend at work used to say ‘that will be useful even if you never use it’ I had things like that in the garage in Stockport, and once and again I did find some long treasured item would be just what I wanted; once I has spent half a day working through boxes, draws and jam-jars!

I find that proper winter weather starts during Christmas, before the weather is damp and cool where as after it is cold; the water is optional – in liquid form or solid!

Since adult status settled on me I seem not to get a hand on my gifts, I really get to enjoy them on Boxing Day; the main item I wanted was part two of the Hobbit triage, last year I had ‘The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey’ so this year I had ‘The Hobbit, The Desolation Of Smaug’ The second story closes on a cliff hanger!

I don’t buy or a ask for the discs with the cinema length film, I like the extended editions, and this are released some time after, so it will next December when I found out how the end of part two pans out! As intermissions goes this one is a tad long, I could get through a lot of Kia-Ora and popcorn by the time the third film hits our television!
