What the hell is this sleeping at night thing?? in Stuff

Ergh, it’s just passed 10am and here I am thinking I can make it until 7pm before going to bed so that I can wake up early, go get the car and make this trip all over again. But since I’ve been awake for around 20 hours or so now, my eyes are getting really heavy haha.
Who am I kidding?
I was trying to go to sleep at night instead tonight because I know what’s it’s like out at my parents place. Obviously they have been daylight-people their entire lives being farmers and here I am about to come off working nights for the past six years. So what happens when I go out there? They are all off to bed whilst I’m wide-eyed awake as an owl on speed, and I get tired when they all wake up.
So the idea was good in theory. It really was, but I am only a mere mortal and staying awake for the next nine hours is going to torture me haha.
So I’ve come up with a new game-plan. To have an extended nap, wake up, try to tire myself out by either going to the gym or going for a long walk (if it’s not storming again, because I like the idea of a walk right now for some reason) and maybe I’ll be tired again early so that I can in fact sleep at night.
In the past, I’ve always just gone home again way too early, as I figured there was no point staying up watching their cable TV all night, which I have also done in the past.
And I figure I need to get used to this whole strange sleeping at night thing (what is this??), even though I still have a few night shifts left to get through before I begin working mornings.
I dunno. This isn’t gonna be easy. They say it takes six-weeks to change a habit. I’ve only got two, and I’m still working nights within those two.
But right now my eyes are telling me to shut my brain off, so I’ll end this here.
If I wake up at 7pm, I’ll be annoyed haha.
