December is here and we have three classes left, our last Watercolour class is to night, we have a winter subject to paint, with watercolour paint you don’t paint in the snow; just the bits that have turned gray. The acrylic class began a week after the watercolour so the winter subject will be painted next week, there we can paint in the snow!
‘Woodland and water’ Acrylic.
My watercolour ‘Woodland and Water’ is some where, I wasn’t very happy with it, it looked more like two dumplings in gravy but I’m happier with this but not satisfied. I well have a third try over Christmas.
‘St Michaels Mount and Boat’ Watercolour.
‘St Michaels Mount and Boat’ Acrylic.
I’m ok with both, and again I intend to try for a better painting.
‘Marbles’ Watercolour.
I wasn’t very keen to paint marbles, but I took it on as an exercise, we paint all sorts of subjects and each teach us a new skill; after several tries! To make something of the marbles I chose the odd framing, it earned me a few brownie points; they couldn’t have been for my dull marbles. I shall have a second chance this week in acrylic!
‘Two Boats’ Watercolour.
‘One Boat’ Acrylic.
‘One Boat’ Acrylic painted at home over two days.
The image we had to work from had three boats, but an evening class is only so long, watercolour paint can be faster to paint with, acrylic takes a little longer to dry so we were down to one boat. I was quite happy with both paintings, but thought I could do better!
I split the painting over two days, the second day was really just the detail in the bout and giving the water in the foreground a deeper blue. The first day was putting down the water, and painting in the boat minus the detail. I will still have to paint this once more time, this painting is a Christmas Gift.
Note, from now I’m adding a ruler to both kit bag, so my framing will be better ….!!
