A walk in the rain. in A small but passable life.

Last night was a pleasant warmer night than nights past. It was 45 degrees at midnight. I pulled the goosedown bag off the bed and crawled into my summer bag and my three blankets in nothing but my sweatpants, street socks and T-shirt.

I slept a solid ten hours. Glorious.

This morning, or I should say afternoon, after my coffee and morning papers from yesterday I took off walking to the library. I finished “Earth Awakens” by Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston and needed to go turn it in.

It started raining as soon as I started walking. I had my umbrella and walking coat and boots so it ended up being a fairly pleasant walk.

I turned in the book. I got online on one of the public computers. I printed out the confirmation of my flight. It turned out to be five pages so it cost me fifty cents.

I couldn’t find the link to print out the boarding pass anywhere. Oh well. I did find a toll free number for Mom to call to get a $50 cash rebate on the tickets.

I found the new John Grisham waiting on the hold shelf for me.

I also got a new library card issued. The old keychain card I’ve have for years had finally fallen apart. The new one she gave me was about the same size as the keychain card for the grocery store. Nice. And crisp looking.

I called Mom and gave her the number for the rebate.

Back at the apartment after another nice walk I started on the book. Jassy let me roll out the dough and cut the biscuits for dinner. She soloed the sausage gravy and it turned out great. (She had a good teacher? )

Mom had called and left a voicemail while my phone was in my pocket. She had called the number and found out the rebate was $50 for each ticket. So with that $100 off the price that made the whole trip price $125. Crazy, eh?

After dinner Clayton and I came over here to the student union.

I’ve poked around on the Allegiant website. I think I’ve figured it out. Apparently, when I get online 24 hours or less before my flight I can print out the boarding pass then. That’s the way I interpreted it anyway. We’ll see. If not I’ll just pay $5 at the airport at the counter.

I’ve found the third season of “Continuum”. I’ve watched the first episode.

So, I’m set for a few days with a new, good book. The big bird has been moved to the frig from the freezer to sit for a few days until Jassy’s mom comes to pick it up.

Tonight is supposed to be warmer than last night. And then it’ll turn cold again.

The only packing I’ve done is thinking about packing. Good enough for now.
