Happy Holidays, I gained two pounds this week. D; Not going to lie, I ate damn well this week. We hosted Thanksgiving at our house, so we made the food. I made homemade bread and cherry crisp. Jacob made some kind of pork (I forget what it’s called) and it was AMAZING, green bean casserole, pasta salad, yams (the ones his mom makes, which are always my favorite), and some other things. Jacob is such a good cook, I marvel at his talent. And I’m husband’ing that. Yes, sir.
Anyway, my mom, sister, her boyfriend, and my youngest sister came over. My mom wanted to help Jacob, and ended up cutting herself on the mandolin like two second into “helping”. So of course the rest of the dinner was drama-land because she was upset that she cut herself. And my sister dressed the cut for her, and my mom kept unwrapping it and complaining. Later on I find out that she was angry at ALL OF US because “no one was helping her” with her finger, although I distinctly remember taping it up for her once, my sister wrapping and taping it up for her multiple times, and my teenage sister also helped her too. Wtf. She makes things up in her mind to be angry about, and I’m so fucking over it.
I called her yesterday when I was Christmas shopping to see what my youngest sister wanted for Christmas and she sounded pissed. It makes me not want to get her anything for Christmas! My youngest sister also left the house on Thanksgiving without saying goodbye, and she wouldn’t eat any of the food we made. She is SO rude, and my mom is raising her that way. Both of them always complain about how rude other people are but apparently they don’t see it in themselves.
My dad also sent me a passive-aggressive message on Facebook saying he’s sick of us never being there for holidays and having to make excuses every year as to why we aren’t there. OMFG. He lives in Michigan and we live in Kansas. I have a two-year-old and a four-month-old. Plane tickets are expensive, and I am NOT taking two very young kids on a 14-hour car ride. No fucking way.
I responded outlining reasons, not to mention how they NEVER contact me or invite us to anything. He didn’t respond.
My parents have stunted emotionally and it’s quite annoying.
On Thanksgiving evening my twin and I went to the mall to check out the deals, but there wasn’t really anything that great. Eddie Bauer was having 50% off everything, and that was pretty much the only deal that was worth it. I bought Jacob a few things from there since he likes that store. The next day I went to Kohl’s, since they were having pretty good toy deals, and ended up getting my nephew and the kids some things. I got Cannon an art set to go with his easel that we got from Ikea a month ago. The easel is going to be a Christmas gift.
I’m really excited that Cannon is old enough to be excited about Christmas this year! He gets to make cookies with his grandma (it’s a tradition she has with all the grandkids).
Thank goodness Jacob’s side of the family has sane people in their family.
Jacob has been off work since Wednesday and I’m not ready for him to go back yet! Although my house is an absolute disaster, and I need to fix it up.
