Those two frosty days we had early in the week are now showing there effect, the canopy around here has remained fairly intact but looking rather aged; a sort of hanging on I suppose! When I was out with Ziggy on his first outing of the day I noticed more sky due to the new gaps where summers leaves were.

I was up and about a little earlier today, it was Ziggy’s visit to his groomers and I had forgotten to replace the dog guard in the car and Lola’s travel cage, so against my usual morning routine I was there getting the car ready; we take Lola with us as my Daughter likes to walk her while we wait for a nicely groomed Ziggy.

It was getting near to time for us to be off, as I came in with Ziggy after his after breakfast outing my Daughter was talking with Sweetheart, there was a message from the groomer; she couldn’t see Ziggy today. I’m quite ok with that as I feeling a little off, not ill just not quite on top form.

So here I am with a howl day for me, I intend to give a few paintings for Christmas gifts, so this could be the day to start, as I am very good at starting tomorrow! There are two scenes I have dun in class both watercolour and acrylic, I was quite happy with both; and I was given ‘brownie points’ we all have positive reviews at the end of a class, good and other wise points are pointed out, and if we have upped our skills a little the brownie points are handed out; the brownie points are just words ….

I’ve been reading through the on line news, anxious to see what as happened awful now with all this ‘Black Friday’ stuff going round. It’s worst than I thought, it’s just another selling ploy to get us over spending over the festive months …..!

I was reading about when it is Christmas, people were asked in the street when Christmas kicked off, one man said after Bonfire Night – 5th November; I can see where he is coming from! Others said December at versus dates, I quite liked one answer ‘August’ These days we seem to have forgotten Advent, a period before Christmas when we eat plan food and do not decorate our homes!

I think Advent begins on the first Sunday in December, and Christmas begins on Christmas Eve, now that Advent is reduced to the chocolate bearing Advent Calendar, we tend to forget the twelve day’s of Christmas; a festival dating back before Christianity; the mid winter festival to celebrate the retuning of the ‘Sun’

Those who know my enters will know we wait with some enthusiasm the retune of the sun, we are about three weeks from midwinter; then it is six weeks when the sun shines on our home again.

I have began with my Christmas Cards to day, it really card for now, my Sister boy and family are off to Malaysia from three months, so Sister – Grandma with be without her Grandson this Christmas, but Malay Grandma will fill the void! So I get my card off before they leave to a warm Christmas, I doubt there will a roast turkey on the table come the day; perhaps a curried turkey …..

As I’ve been writing this entry I’ve been listening to ‘Wintersmith’ an album by Streeleye Span, the more I listen to it the more I like it, there is a mostly different line up from the classic membership of years ago, but still singing her heart out it the wonderful Maddy Prior; the voice that could sing for England!

‘Wintersmith’ is a ‘Diskworld’ book by Terry Pratchett, the music takes on the themes of the book, Maddy Prior Streeleye Span and Terry Pratchett; how could it not be great!
