Of course, I slept through it - or rather, I had to head to work as soon as I woke up, since I woke up to a message from my manager asking if I could do 2-12. I looked at the time. 3:30pm. Bit late for that! lol. So I just asked if he still needed me and I ended up starting at 4 instead. Oh well, little bit more cash, why not.
But yeah, I missed the speech. I’ve only seen the first 10 minutes of this, but I’m posting it so I can watch the rest of it later. Since it goes for so long and I don’t want to use up all my data in one go, I figured I’d be sensible and space it out. Seems pretty cool so far. A couple of my friends were there to see the President in person. That woulda been pretty cool. Best I could do was think that Obama was staying in the hotel 100 meters from my work, which he would’ve been in the hours I was there. It’s crazy that the roads are blocked off one block in each direction from the hotel. Detours around it.

I absolutely love a couple of things about the G20. In this speech, apparently Obama mentions both Climate Change and supporting human rights (women’s, as well as gay and lesbian), which is hilarious because they are three things our Prime Minster clearly doesn’t give two-shits about. Climate-change isn’t even on the agenda of topics at the G20. I find that stunning, and ironic, given that there are bushfires in the Blue Mountains at the moment, as well as a 40+ degree day here in Brisbane, which all the world leaders will have to swelter through (well, not really, as they’ll have comfy air-con).
“Coal is good for our economy.” isn’t that what Abbott said? Something like that. Economy, maybe, slightly, even though it’s old-school.
Environment? FUCK no!

I suppose there’s my inner Greeny coming out. I’ve always voted Greens - mostly because they seem to be the only party with a soul.
So I applaud Obama for bringing that up in his speech, basically whacking our Prime Minister in the face over his ignorance.
To think our Prime Minister scrapped the old position and self-appointed himself the ‘Minister For Women’.
Then yesterday, he told the British PM that “Australia was just bush” before the first fleet arrived. Clearly that didn’t go down too well with the Aboriginal community. I think he just opens his mouth before he thinks sometimes.

Last night, the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, hit up Caxton street and took selfies with members of the public! Now THAT is a good way to win over the Aussie public haha!
I think the Mexican leaders did something similar.

There weren’t as many cops out at 1am when i walked home tonight at 1am. I did pass a group of about 8 conversing on Turbot street and I said a quiet ‘Hi’ as I hurried on through them with my gym bag. I think all of them said a cheery ‘Hey’ back, which was nice. I guess I was in my gym clothes so nothing really dodgy about that, although I did think I’d be stopped for a moment there.

A security lady came up to me at work asking for those ‘shoe shield protector’ thingys, as her feet were killing her from standing for so many hours on end. The customer after her asked for the same thing.

I’d better get some sleep! Mariah Day! :D
