Cannon had his weekly speech therapy session. The early learning teacher came by with the normal lady that comes by. She gave me some really good ideas for this week. She also wanted me to work on having him follow directions I give him. I’m supposed to have him “complete the task.” I had a coloring picture of a dinosaur out for Cannon, and she took his arms and said “we are coloring the dinosaur” and had him color it for a few seconds holding his arms. She said this will help him listen when I am trying to teach him something. I’m definitely going to try it, because he always completely ignores me when we are working on body parts and such. I know he knows more than he lets on, he just won’t listen to me. :P I hope this helps!
This morning I asked him to sit down at breakfast instead of get up often like he usually does. I only had to re-direct him once, he listened to me every other time. I was pleasantly surprised. I am also supposed to use Lorelei as a way to get him to follow a direction. The example she gave me was to ask him to get Lorelei’s blanket and bring it to me.
He’s also been scared of the bath lately, which he has gone through before, but they gave me some ideas to help with that.
I need some more toys for Lorelei. She loves to play with stuff, but I don’t remember where any of Cannon’s old baby toys are. :\ I’ve been giving her the same few things to play with. I suppose I need to go through boxes soon.
I’ve been doing a lot better with keeping the house clean. Proud of me! I also ran yesterday after not doing it for a week… and holy cow was that hard.
I’m glad Jacob doesn’t have school tonight, I really need to get some homework done.
He’s such a better dad than I am a mom. Seriously. He doesn’t lose his patience as easily as I do. I envy and admire that about him. He works all day and then stays up with Cannon, since he puts him to bed. I’ve tried taking over but Jacob doesn’t really let me, he likes to put Cannon to bed. He’s been going to bed really late this week.. like, after midnight. :( He needs to get back to daycare. He’s been sick and he has a rash so I’ve been keeping him home. I might take him to the doctor for the rash today, if the triage nurse calls me back soon.
I wish I had something more interesting to say, but I don’t.
