I just want this crap to be over with, really. in Stuff

It’s 2am. Even though it was nice to not have to go into work tonight (and still get paid for it), I now find myself pretty bored I guess. I was meant to have that gig to go to tonight, but since that was cancelled, well, yeah. Lame. I doubt I’ll be able to go to the rescheduled date in six months time. Who knows.

There’s a helicopter flying around outside, doing it’s rounds or whatever the fuck it’s doing at 2am. It’s all I’ve been hearing the last few days and nights - that fucking helicopter. Putin arrived tonight. Obama arrives in the morning.
Then shit will get real. It’s already unreal.

Because I was bored, I considered going to the gym. Then I talked myself out of it because I don’t want to be ID checked and questioned just for having to carry a gym bag past around 30 or so police officers, as my gym is in the city. So I’ve kind of relegated myself to the fact I won’t be going to the gym this weekend at all, although I am going to attempt to tomorrow since I have to go to work anyway. That’ll be fun. What was the point of making today a public holiday if tomorrow I have to work anyway? Pffft. No wonder this city is a ghost-town. Everyone has literally shot-through for their extended long weekends to the coasts. Watching the traffic report this afternoon was quite amusing. Bumper-to-bumper traffic on both highways, Pacific Highway to the south and Bruce Highway to the north. Everyone has the same idea since the temperature’s will be 35 degrees tomorrow and 39 degrees on Sunday.
Those world leaders from colder climate countries are certainly going to be in for a shock tomorrow, although I assume they will be offered an air-conditioned carriage every moment of their time here. What’s a bit more of an electricity bill added to a $470,000,000 bill. I like writing out the actual cost of this because it looks more alarming. Yep, two-day event - $470M dollars.

I only really have Mariah to look forward to on Sunday now. She’s staying at the Palazzo Versace on the Goldy, so she should be mostly out of the way from all the world leaders. I mean, as if Mariah, the diva herself, would stay anywhere non-glamorous. Darling!
So maybe I’ll get patted down before boarding the train, as I think a lot of the world leaders will probably still be here then.

I really just want it to be next week already, when the world’s attention isn’t on my city. I mean really, it’s a rather boring city most of the time and suddenly “85%” of the world’s leaders will all be here at once. I think Obama’s the last to arrive, probably in a few hours from now, I’d say.

I didn’t even leave the house today. I’ve felt too intimidated to. Between the helicopters and the police and hidden snipers, it’s a scary thought. Luckily I bought enough food to get me by. I don’t have a choice tomorrow, my manager actually pleaded with me that he “needs me at work on Saturday” haha. I joked with him that if I don’t turn up, I’ve been thrown in the watch-house.
And what’s even more eerie is that Brisbane has become a ghost town, so everyone has fucked off (cleverly) because the media has scared them, so I’m walking to work and the only people I see, stationed 50 meters apart from each other, are bright-vested cops. The view other civilians I do see are having their ID’s checked BY said cops, because, you know, they’ve got nothing else to do. At least that’s what I noticed on Thursday night. I just have to assume that tonight the cops will probably be every 10 meters apart instead of 50.
Pretty ridiculous. I have to wonder if there are ANY cops anywhere else in the country right now. If someone wanted to commit a crime elsewhere right now, it’d probably be the time to get away with it. They’re all here!!

So the game plan tomorrow is gym, work, try to make it home without getting gunned-down for looking suss in dark work clothes at 1am, sleep, wake up and get patted down to catch the train to go meet Erin and her friend to head out to see Mariah! Yay!
Bitch better have good vocals. I think a couple of my facebook friends may be there too, as I’ve seen a few people posting about her. That’s how I know she’s staying on the Gold Coast.
