Finally Winter? in A small but passable life.

I walked to the library a couple of days ago and found the third book in the trilogy. I also have the new King, Koontz, and Grisham on my waiting list. There was a really good review of King’s new book in last Friday’s New York Times.
I finally got my walking coat back from Jassy. She had taken it home with her to store for the summer for me. That was three years ago. I really am fond of that coat. The best $3 I ever spent in a thrift store. I bought it almost twenty years ago. I used to wrap Jassy up in it when she was a baby and we’d go out walking in the evening. I’ve never washed it either. It looks fine. Jassy tightened up a few buttons that were getting loose.
A few nights ago the temperature started dipping down into the teens at night so I fluffed out my goosedown sleeping bag and started a new routine. I go up to the apartment to change into my sleepwear- fat socks, poly-pro long johns, fleece pants, hoodie, fleece vest and my toque. I heat up some water in the tea kettle for my Nalgene bottle I use for a foot warmer and slurp a mug of hot chocolate. I’ve been sleeping really well.
It snowed just a little bit today. It didn’t even stick on the streets.
Jassy and Clayton got a cat. She’s really pretty and really mellow. Liam tried to say hello a little too aggressively and got his nose swatted. He’s maintained his distance ever since. And the cat doesn’t care, she mostly sleeps. She’s eating her food and drinking her water and using her litter box so I guess she’s found a new home. A good feline.
I didn’t go anywhere yesterday and didn’t get online so I’m once again behind on my bookmarks.
I’m at the student union tonight because the wifi at Hardee’s crapped out several days ago.
Mom bought me another phone card and sent $50 with it. I don’t know why she does that.
Jassy and I went to the farmer’s market and bought another eight pounds of that ground beef and bought some pork chops to try. She also bought an ounce of some funky tea to try to get off as much coffee in the mornings. Not me. It smells like a hay bale to me. I’ll stick with coffee.
Anyway, it’s about time to pack up for the night. It’s 22 degrees outside and I’ve got about a half hour walk back to the van and apartment.
