Big Hero 6- movie review in keeping it postive

Both my movie buddy and I had had a bad day, so we opted for something cute, silly, fun. We were not disappointed… even though it had just opened and we had to pay full price - I get a senior discount, so we just figure that in for the total.

It’s an animated movie based on a minor Manga (Japanese comic books/graphic novels) character. It involved geniuses who band together at a “nerd school” and create robots. Each has his/her skills and they all work well together - boys, girls, different ethnic backgrounds.

There are a lot of VERY adult themes in this movie - technology gone bad, taking revenge on society when something goes very wrong personally, stealing ideas, trying to save someone and dying in the attempt. I really don’t think, even with the cute animation it’s a movie for any child under 10 or 11.

The setting is a mash of San Francisco and Tokyo - and it works very well.

It’s fun, there are some laughs, but there are sad moments also.
