Day 75 - Last Day of Vintage Challenge! in These Foolish Things

Today is Day 75 of 2025.
It’s also the last day of my Vintage/Thrifted Fashion Challenge! It would also be the last day of my 2nd 75 Hard fitness challenge (mental and physical), but even though I feel good about my daily habits, I fudged so many days that I really didn’t stick to this one.
So, let’s just talk about the Vintage/Thrift Challenge then.
I honestly want to keep this one going too. I love the idea of incorporating thrifted pieces into my daily wear. I’m actually pretty much in a place where I can do that right now (as shown in my 75 days of posting my outfits on Instagram). At this point, I can’t imagine paying full price or buying anything NEW (clothing-wise). There are just too many GREAT pre-loved finds out there.
Now, it may be hard to find something you’re specifically looking for when you go the vintage or thrift route, but it’s always a fun challenge. I’m by no means a thrifting expert - like anything else, it takes some time to get good at it. But I have started learning little tricks and hacks here and there.
For example, Goodwill. I didn’t know this when I first started shopping there, but they color code their price tags, and every day a different color is 50% off the already inexpensive prices! And then on Tuesdays (check your local Goodwills, they will differ), if you’re over 55…ahem, a “senior”…which I am, you can take 30% off of anything in the store!
And the city where I live is the perfect place to get creative with the thrifting or vintage sales. There are multiple - if not DOZENS - of pop-up flea market festivals every single weekend and even during the week! It’s hard to even find them all! People are constantly sending me different events happening around town.
Am I getting cheaper as I age? Maybe. Or maybe I’m just thrifty. Or maybe I’m just getting more like my dad who goes insane for a great deal!
But the bottom line is that I’m not CONSUMING brand new clothing. I’m actually keeping these pieces from going into landfills. I know it seems like such a small, tiny, miniscule thing to do to help, but remember the butterfly effect, right? I’m taking the energy that would have potentially made an article of clothing a piece of trash that is one more thing on a mountain of a landfill and repurposing that energy.
And the fact that thrifting and vintage has become a whole industry and more and more people in the fashion industry - and BEYOND - are into this concept of anti-fast-fashion is exciting to me! It’s a movement, and one that I can stand behind because it fuels creativity, helps the environment, and when you combine that with my favorite thrifting charity that I volunteer for monthly, it helps society.
Full circle, people. I love this so much. I’ll be working on ways to make this a bigger part of my life and the lives of others.

Well they say something isn't "vintage" unless it is 50 years old. Well by that rationale we are now "vintage", hence our increased interest in things that are as well...

The criteria for clothing is actually 20 years, so imagine: the clothes we wore in 2005 are now vintage! I still have so many pieces!!

I just wear the same tshirts until they wear out! 100% sure some of my favourites are vintage already! xx

I find it really hard to find anything that fits me. I’m tall and it seems that most thrift stores are full of clothes for petite size 4 women!

Anti-fast fashion sounds like a great idea!
