Something Wicked This Way Comes in Current Events

It is really challenging but I don’t want to catastrophize about the events happening at work.
Last month, our person at the top went on leave. Her second-in-command quit. I walked into work this morning and learned that my Youth Director went on leave. As did our Wellness Director, who used to be in operations. My team was not in but it was explained to everyone else in the office while they watched people clear out their offices. My instincts about an internal investigation are adding up more than ever. The young lady I shared an office with quit last week. Our secretary packed up her things yesterday and walked out.
I received an email from the Executive Assistant yesterday. I do not work Mondays so I missed it. She wanted a reply by noon today which she received. In her email, she listed what I have been doing that was not best practice. She also needed to understand some of our purchases. It was the program director who quit and this was her job to ensure that we were in compliance with our contribution agreements and program deliverables. I didn’t take this as shots-fired. This was just a learning opportunity for everyone. They do not train us to understand. I advocated for myself very well. We shall see what happens.
I’m not alone, however. We are all feeling the shakedown. I like to know what my boundaries are. I don’t want to create problems, I want to create structure so this is just an opportunity. We have a meeting with our funders in an hour. I’m not worried about that meeting. I’m looking forward to it. We get to showcase what we have done and get to talk about what we have in store and we get to build a good relationship.
This too shall pass. This storm will pass. We are going to be under new management soon enough I predict. They are going to do a lot of restructuring. I’m too new to know the difference but I am adaptable.
Anyway, I needed to air that out. The tension in the office is so thick, we are all suffocating.
