Labor was painless & truly easy (I didn’t feel anything! A little pressure but no pain at all!) up until 3.5 hours in when the nurse turned the pitocin from 6 to 7 and a flip switched. Then less than 5 min later I simply felt a pop then a huge gush and we were OFF like we were shot out of a cannon. Contractions started intensely immediately & I tried to walk around through them but could barely even stand. I don’t really remember this part but I know the suddenness of the contractions shocked us all. I was helped to bed & with the first check I was 10 cm & told to push.
22 minutes, no pain meds, no tearing & intense but useful & purposeful contractions later & my sweet DAUGHTER Leah Elizabeth was born. :)
3 lbs 15 oz 15.8” and absolutely completely perfect :)
Breathing room air right away, trying to suckle & very alert. She is surpassing every 34 week milestone they set for her & will be monitored in the NICU for a few weeks as she gains weight & solidifies her sucking/swallowing skills. She is incredible :)
I will write more & include pictures & respond to notes tomorrow but for now you can find me in the NICU skin to skin with my gorgeous baby girl & blown away at loving something so much so deeply so fast. I am thrilled!!! :) Today could not have gone better! I’m a MOM!! :)
