At first look out side it could be another dull day, on second look I could see waves of fine rain carried on in the wind; those wet waves of fine rain blow through the valley. Those who enjoyed their fireworks last night were lucky, a few minutes in this soft day is quite soaking, if this weather had arrived twelve hours early it would hardly have been a night to light the skies with an ones fireworks …..

Firework night was one of the quietest I can remember, I didn’t go out until midnight, but when I was outside I could smell the aftermath on the air. I took me dinner into the lounge and sat with Ziggy, we had the television on quite laud, Ziggy was a little fugitive but other wise quiet. I watch a program about Meteorites, it was made after the meteor came to earth in Russia, a meteor is only a meteorite after the impact!

There were two programs aired after the meteor exploded over Russia’s Ural mountains, then it continued as a fireball as it broke up before the remains punched a hole in to frozen lake. This was the BBC program ‘The Truth About Meteors’ I will not mention the other dire effort, in fact I can’t remember who made it or why.

Now and then I heard the sound of fireworks, not the bangers some love to set off in the wee small hours, this was in our Stockport years; more like the wheezing whistling type’s. There were any such sounds close by, I did notice a few distant flashes, nothing that added any light through our summer curtains!

I was in the lounge another hour with Ziggy, he moved about, on the carpet then on the settee, for a while he was by my feet then of to the best leather chair; which is well covered! Then he settled by the door as he dose every evening, he stayed there until I wanted a drink, as I was saying ‘Come on Zig I’m going out’ he looks up at me as if to say ‘You up again!’

For the rest of my watch I had a blu-ray disc in the machine, I have two disc’s of the film ‘Blade Runner’ a Sci-fi film I think almost as good as 2001 A Space Odyssey. I don’t have a copy of the first edit, a messed-up edited by the money people; who really should know better! That edit has a happy ended, and even worse voice over’s by Harrison Ford who did know better; but because of a claus in his contract as he put it – I was pushed screaming to the mic!

The DVD copy I have is a good half way edit, when we had a blu-ray player this was my first blu-ray disc, and this is ‘Blade Runner – The Final Cut’ the best edit there is. Ridley Scott’s edit, I think – I hope! The ‘happy ending’ that was forced on Scott by the money people is banished.

The film ends with Gaff’s words –
‘It’s too bad she won’t live, but then again, who does’
