Perhaps Banksy’s Clacton mural could now stand along side of Sutherland’s portrait of Sir Winston Churchill, both destroyed soon after there creation. It is thought the portrait of Churchill was destroyed by instruction Lady Churchill, where as the Banksy’s Mural was washed of a wall by Clacton Council workers, caring out the policies of the council to remove graffiti from the towns building; their policy on Graffiti Art has not been made public.

Once it was known that the portrait of our Counties great war leader was missing, it was at a time to late rebuke Sir Winston Churchill or Lady Churchill, and thankfully they were spared the tut tot’s of the art brigade! I suppose the canvas was given to Sir Winston Churchill; and his to do what he wished with it ….

As to who owns a work by Banksy I feel out of my depth to give guidance, I would like to think they were ours but the wealthy find ways to become sole owners! Now I wonder what the Councillors of Clacton will do, order their workers to rustle a replacement Banksy. What ever they are still with us and receiving post, I won’t add to the feeling of disgruntled England, who are sending their views to the mostly silent Councillors.

It seems their only support was a message from a Lady in the USA, she applauds the removing of Banksy’s ‘painting’ whoever he is; and “Well done Clacton” [where ever it is!]

Donkey or Elephant!
