I was assigned the same awesome nurse who had me on Tues & Wed & it’s been WAY better than I feared this morning.

She took her time starting the pitocin after remembering my fears earlier this week. I got a solid nearly 3 hours of hall walking in & was able to get myself to 4 cm, 100% effaced & the baby is so low I can push as soon as I dialate more.

I started at 1 on the pitocin at 930 & it’s been getting increased every 30-60 min & is up to 4 mL/hour. I’ve had one lightning bolt of pain that lasted less than 5 seconds & quite a bit of pressure & fullness but so far feeling REALLY good.

Rob, Meghan & my mom are doing a great job keeping me relaxed & calm & laughing & distracted. We’ve kept walking just pushing my IV pole & it’s been just fine.

I also met the attending MD who is a young, witty lady. Her first questions to me were “How do YOU want this to go?” & “What specific requests do you have?” I immediately felt heard & that calmed me significantly. I also found out that my asshole condescending OB comes on service tomorrow at 8 AM so for one hundred reasons I’m planning on having this baby by then!

The doctor also said she is confident I can do skin to skin after birth & that the baby will do great. That eased my mind significantly. She said the baby has to go to the NICU because of only being a 34 weeker but may do great & only need to stay 1 or 2 weeks. It will get to go home once it can breathe on its own without additional oxygen, can suck & swallow & is maintaining its weight. I’m confident I grew a tiny fighter who will do all of these things like a little rockstar. C’moooooon baby!

We’ve also nicknamed our group Team Awesome. I’ve got Pandora rocking a calm mix & we played a few hands of cards. Things are going well. Slowly but surely making progress :)
