Stood in the bathroom my toothbrush loaded and ready I stopped and listened, a gust of wind was disturbing the bushes and trees, and riding with the wind was a plentiful amount of rain; I stood a moment considering those on their way to work – with out a car!

I was all ready to take Ziggy out, a quick look through the kitchen windows suggested I did something else that didn’t involve going outside. So the hot shower I was going to have in half and hour had just been brought forward. A half hour on I was feeling fresh and dry, and out side there was a bright blue sky, just coming over the horizon were some dark grey clouds …..

My Daughter had a hairdressing appointment this morning, with the vagary of the day I took her into Perranporth, I was going anywise as we like a fresh crusty loaf most days, after drooping her off I went on to the Co-op. I was only in there to buy bread and on a fancy a box of Mince-pies!

The Mince Pie is one of the few seasonal food that are still seasonal, the Easter ‘Hot Cross Bun’ we can buy round the year, so we enjoy them through November until the supply dwindles in January! I was in the Co-op less then ten minutes, and half of that was waiting at the tile, the woman before me had a basket, then spent time guiding the girl behind the tile round the tobacco department; with the pocket-able size it is kept behind the tile, a progress of ‘on the shelf in the middle’ ‘no the one above’ ‘the red – no he likes the papers in the blue pack’ and on!

It seems all those tobacco items I used bay forty five years age are still about, me the young apprentice going out three times a day on my bike, as wall as food and bottles of drink there was cigarettes, tobacco for smoking in roll up’s and pipes, packets of cigarette papers and of course matches to set it all alight! The middle day run was for fish’n’chips, the retune run was the warm back run; a lot of hot packs in my backpack. Happy days, well maybe …..

Any way I went in to the Co-op under glorious blue sky, and came out under a dower dark grey morning, I feel we will have this type of weather for today; and looking at the forecast we could be a pattern for the ten days ahead!

We have put a few patio things away, sitting out on the patio has now finished for this year, as has hanging closes out to dry, rain will keep them wet while winds we carrier them away; I think this is farewell autumn and winter if we must!
