Update 5 in The REAL Baby Journey!

So contractions continue to be calm and much less common so I got moved upstairs to a longterm stay area. It’s mostly full of women who are on longterm pregnancy related bed rest (everyone’s goal is 34 weeks for the most part - I’m fortunate to have made it to 33 weeks, 4 days at home!) and I’ll stay here until Friday. My 48 hours of steroids to help the baby mature are finished on Thursday afternoon but they want to keep me calm and in bed until Friday morning (the day I officially turn 34 weeks) and then I’ll get moved back up to labor and delivery and started on pitocin. I’m not excited about that as I really would like to let my body do it on its own but the risk of infection is so, so high anywhere outside of 24 hours after my water broke (which will be four DAYS earlier at that point) and I don’t obviously want to put the baby at risk at all. Drugs it is.

I apologize for repeat updates/posts. I can’t remember what I post here vs what I share with friends via text. I also slept maybe 3 hours last night so my brain is kinda mushy. :)

I also got my laptop now so I don’t need to be doing all of my updates on my phone. Phew. I’m glad to have my phone to be able to document this journey and keep you guys updated but it is such a hassle to finger type on such a small screen. Keyboard typing on a full laptop is MUCH more pleasant. I can also share some pictures now!

First off, my brand new beautiful baby niece!! 7 lbs, 1 oz and 21 inches long. Perfect!

Doesn’t my sister look AWESOME?! So proud of her :)

Here I am after getting admitted and settling in at Labor and Delivery. I feel pretty good and am staying upbeat and optimistic. I can’t control any part of this and the best I can do is stay calm and in bed. Also, room service is delicious. Baby is safe and strong in there so I’ll just relax and enjoy these last few days of pregnancy. It is mind boggling to think it is almost over.

With all my monitors on and my IV going. I look like such a patient! So weird. :)

Alright, time for some delicious lunch (grilled cheese…the same thing I’ve eaten every single day of this pregnancy since week 20. What can I say…it’s delicious! Baby likes cheese!) Plus a chocolate chocolate chip cookie and some cold milk. I’m doing alright. :) Thanks for all of the prayers, well wishes, support and encouragement. Looking like I’ll have baby updates by Friday afternoon/evening. We’ll get to find out if it’s a little boy or a little girl in there…and we’ll share names and photos asap. Baby goes straight to the NICU but I’m hoping to get some skin to skin in that day. We’ll see. Playing it by ear and just hoping for as strong and as mature of a baby as possible. Keep growing, nugget! :)
