What size is your bed?
You know, I don’t know. When I was talking to my mother about Cameron moving, she mentioned his “tiny” bed being so old, and I told her that bed was 20 years old. “How do you know,” she asked. I replied, “Because I bought it and it used to be mine!” made me realize that I don’t think I know what bed sizes are. It’s not a California King because Thailand doesn’t make rooms big enough in my condo for that.

What was the last thing you cooked?
I made green bean casserole but as a stew and added plant-based shredded chicken. I’d been thinking of how to modify that recipe for years, but only a few weeks ago did I finally find somewhere to buy French Fried Onions in Bangkok.

Do you practice any religious faith?
No, but I have perfected cracking the armor of religious faith.

What is something practical/useful that you bought recently?
Red pens are a must-have item for a teacher.

Describe your gender and orientation.
I’m a gay man on my best days.

Where did you go on your last vacation?
Vientiane. What an intense place that is. I hate that there is such apathy in the world.

How many countries have you visited in your lifetime?
US (duh), Mexico, Canada, France, England, Spain, Belgium, Qatar, Cambodia, Laos, and I had a layover in Sweden, so if the airport counts…

What is something most people don’t know about you?
There are many things people don’t know about me because when I was younger, being the child of religious leaders, we had to live very publicly, very openly and allow our lives and choices to be scrutinized. I am paranoid about how public our world has become with social media and surveillance and GPS and all of it. I turn my phone off when I don’t use it so it can’t track me. I keep a minimal amount of people on my social media accounts. I never post what I’m doing same-day.

What type of home do you live in?
It’s an older palazzo-styled apartment building with a door directly in front of the elevator to the BTS (elevated transit system) in the northern region of Bangkok.

What was the last thing you ate?
A banana and some pineapple.

What one thing brings you the most joy in life?
Honestly, teaching. I know it sounds silly, but I am so comfortable in front of a class. If I’m not up there, I’m in stress.

What (if anything) are you reading right now?
I am reading Heaven Official’s Blessing again, and that is still the most psychotic character I have ever read in all of fiction. The psychological torture and abuse the antagonist puts the main character through is shocking and harrowing.

How many people are in the room with you right now?
Like Celine says, All by myself…

If you had $100 to blow on non-essentials, what would you spend it on?
$100 is actually about 3,500 Thai baht, so I would probably buy a new pair of headphones or get my watch repaired. (Pro-tip - don’t wear your expensive watch to a darkroom orgy; it’ll fall off and get stomped on by all the S&M people in their big boots)

How’s your health at present?
Probably not good, but my doctor appointment is coming up so we shall see just how not good.

What are you looking forward to?
Honestly, I can’t wait for my trip to Singapore.

How did you sleep last night?
I only got about 3 hours sleep because of a deadline I had back in America at 3am… but I got the date wrong, it’s tomorrow morning so tonight’s rest probably won’t be any better.

What is something good that happened (or will happen) today?
I kind of made a friend with my co-worker. I had heard from others that he was unfriendly, but after having been there and around my other co-workers, I know why he would be perceived that way, so we had a nice hour chat in the coffee room. It was surprising because I didn’t know I still knew how to have a conversation.

What is something interesting you’ve been watching?
I just rewatch Murder, She Wrote.

What’s on your grocery list right now?
My grocery list is about 5,000 baht long…

What’s a chore at home you really need to get done?
I need to vacuum and sweep the floors. They get dirty so quickly.

Is your hair its natural colour?
For now, I have an appointment tomorrow to change that.

List 10 adjectives that describe you.
Ambiguous, shifty, banal, audacious, drunk, tall, misanthropic, ennuyé, over-looked, and funny.
