Pretend you’re a critic and review a book or movie of your choice.
Hmm. I could do this. I’ll do a movie and book.
Book. I could go with the mass effect books, but thats a series thats kind of niche, mainly because thats written for fans of the series. So I’m going to go with a more mainstream book series, and that is the Reckoners by Brandon Sanderson.
I was first brought to this series by the board game. The synopsis is basically, something blocked the sky, and gave a lot of people super powers, but they turned out to be evil, and the best way to take them out is to find out their biggest fear. There are 4 books in the series, 3 of them are a trilogy. First one is Steelheart, basically evil superman who rules over Chicago (aka Newcago) and the surrounding areas. The final fight is ironically at soldier field. The characters are well fleshed out, I like Cody for all his Wild BS stories, Prof is the gruff leader, David the main character has many similes and metaphors, and so on and so forth. The second is called firefight which is the most different of the 3 of the trilogy because there are only 2 characters that are prominent from the first one (Prof and david) and basically they go to the ruins of New york city to take out Regalia, who controls the water, but the underlying story is around Firefight. The final book in the main series called Calamity,(Which is what is the thing that blocked the sky) and its all around trying to find Calamity, in this city of Moving salt. The final book Lux is a side story about a floating city in the sky, and its the darker one of the four books but its pretty good. It left open for a sequel, and I dunno if it will happen. Its a good series overall though.
Movie, I’m gonna go with Death of Stalin. This movie is really good. It a historical fiction movie (there are some true parts but its basically a work of fiction) Its unique because none of the actors speak russian and its just assumed its in russian. But the actors are great, (Steve Buscemi plays Kruschev, Jason Issacs plays Zhukov, Jeffery Tambor plays Malenkov, and those are the bigger names) but its a great movie, darkly hilarious, and Zhukov is just great.
Anyways. Thats about all.
