Unexpected call. in A small but passable life.

Daughter called this afternoon a little overwhelmed with life at the moment. We talked for a bit. She said something about shopping for business card printing. Mentioned a price of $40-$50 per hundred. I said no, that’s ridiculous. She said that’s all she could find. I dropped it and we changed subjects. Grandson is doing great. He was with his Grandma at the time.
After the call I googled. I found business card printing at $7.95 per thousand. And there were numerous ads around that price. I hate it when I’m right. I have no idea why she didn’t see that when she searched. I sent her the link. I haven’t heard back from her.
I try to help, but I need to get used to being old and clueless. According to everyone younger than me that is my new status. That is how the world works. I’ve already told Daughter I’m no good at relationship advice. I guess I should add business advice to the list.
I’d found a chili mix in my pantry cabinet. I have hamburger meat. I had dark red kidney beans and diced tomatoes delivered yesterday. I forgot the tomato sauce. Maybe next time. I’m not paying $2.50 for a can of Hormel chili when it used to be a buck, on sale, often.
The weather has been perfect. Days in the seventies, nights in the fifties. It even tried to rain the other day. Tried. Got the street wet for a bit. I still need to buy a rain gauge. Even though it hasn’t really rained since last winter. My old rain gauge disintegrated from the UV. Just turned to dust. No monsoon two summers in a row now. This summer we ended up with 145 days in row over one hundred degrees, May to October. There were several other records broken but I’m sure next year will break even more. It’s been that way for several years now.
Anyway, on with retirement.
