I made 6 hats really fast.
Z my work son decided he wanted to learn to crochet. So We spent that last few no show sessions ( I wish people fucking took this seriously...) Learning to crochet. Hes actually amazing at it. Hes a bigger guy and his fingers are pretty thick so i got a bigger hook for him. He didnt really like it so we went down. I gave him two random  balls of yarn. He actually crochet on his sampler piece during some sessions lol one of his young boys also crochets so they came to ask me if they could get some more hooks from my desk so they could both crochet together. Normally they play chess. I told them of course. Help themselves. Just bring it back when you are done ( its my handled hooks. I need those kind) But also if i loose it, its not too expensive to buy more. Im going to pick up a cheap set for him.I know that while he technically makes more money per hour then I do ( by 4k per year, its not much) But hes also a single 24 yo man on his own. Grab him some cheapie yarns on clearance and get him going.
He wants to make a giant poufy pillow for his office haha. Im totally up for it.
He learned chain and SC and was trying DC on my way out on Friday.

But yes, I got through 6 hats already. Some of the gals in other houses were gushing one of our crafty gals was crocheting the Beetlejuice spider for their house. Which is cool! And my CEO said yeah, L made spiders and web blankets for ours. I said the snake is cool. I got distracted by the hats!  Like the snake is neat, thats awesome that they are doing that. Sure I made spider web blankets and big stuffed spiders and pumpkins for our office. Dosent make her snake less cool, its prob more cool but yeah I switched my focus from making more crafty things for decor to making hats for homeless instead.

I did learn that alot of people are all fucking TALK. They are like we need to come together and help.
But really t hey mean SOMEONE ELSE donate their money, time, energy or skill to helping. So I can feel better about myself because I "rallied"

No you didnt.

All this talk online about helping our homeless as we go to winter. You know who really donated? I made hats, clinical director bought a bunch of oral hygiene products. A lady brought in a big box of pads and some winter gear. Thats it. I know CEO will do a write off and have me order 200 dollars worth of supplies before we drop it off because we always do 200 for any kind of support drive we do ( Even Z's cheerleaders when they asked for a sponsor, we did 200 for them, he coaches cheerleading too)
All these people TALK about wanting to help. But they dont actually WANT to help.
Once I get Z farther along and teach him hats in the round. I bet he would make and donate. But right now, he can do a chain and sc and is trying to figure out how to keep his ends straight lmao. Thats GOOD enough for now. Im proud of him. Maybe I can get my kids on making some hats too. I just need to get more yarn. I have a TON of my super expensive wools. But if they arent hand washed, they will be ruined. Its not ideal for homeless. Ideally, the acrylic is better because its easily washed.

I do realize there is a chance they just get tossed. But also maybe. Ill be driving through town, and see one of the hats I made on someones head keeping them warm as it gets cooler.

Thats something you know.

If i had more I would do more. But my kid is also living in a shed without insulation and while its in the 80s during the day, its 40s at night and we gotta insulate it. Hes 20. He knows he can come inside. He refuses.  Just waiting on T to get paid from his secondary job and we can get that moving. I gotta take care of these kids too. But im doing WHAT I can. I got a big box of fiber from helping out a crafty lady and she thanked me with wool. But again. its WOOL!

Anyway my adderall kicked in so I just made a quart of bread crumbs and ground all my eggshells. Little girl is using her 3d pen to make a haunted house. And i have a pile of stuff to get ready to go photograph my receptionists elopement in a few hours.
