homecookin' in poetry

go home with the girl at Little Caesar’s
then at least you’ll have pizza
she’s not a supermodel
or that great at conversation
but there would be pizza
that’s more than some people get

it isn’t even good pizza
it’s barely pizza at all
ketchup on soggy crackers
but it’s something
that’s more than some people get

we can’t all live our dreams
we can’t all fly
we can’t all be the superman
punch holes in the sky
some of us are lucky
to just have love and some pizza pie
that’s more than some people get

so go home with the girl at Little Caesar’s
and try not to screw it up
like most of us have
at least once
or twice
