Sudden Death

On my flight back from California, I was writing the last entry on my tablet, and the screen would blink in and out. I didn’t think much of it, figured that it was a wiring issue, but when I got home, the tablet wouldn’t turn on. I took it out of the case to discover the source of the wiring issue: the battery has swollen so much that the screen has been detached. The case had been keeping it in one piece for I-don’t-know-how-long. I’m just lucky that the thing didn’t catch on fire.

It’s been 4 years since I had the tablet - I think I got it in the beginning of the pandemic, so not a long time, but it’s been a decent run. Now I have to use my work computer for personal stuff.

Sudden Move

Having a closing and possession date triggers a lot of work on our side. Our being in California during this process didn’t help. When we landed back in New York, the closing date was in a week. We still haven’t gotten insurance, or getting services set up in the new house. And we should list this house before the market cools.

We didn’t talk much about the logistics of what to move first, and what to stage, So it’s a rushed decision. I think we’re in a good enough position to sell (our house is apparently in an in-demand market), so I’m not too worried about not having offers.

But it’s just a lot of work in a short amount of time. On top of that, our doctor’s appointments and concerts and a new school year with La Professeure’s new role in the dean’s office, it’s going to be a busy autumn.

Sudden Weight

The premier league is back on so I’m back to regularly riding the exercise bike - I took a long pause during Euros because I’d been alternately under the weather, travelling and having an allergy flare-up. Since I only weigh myself after exercising, yesterday was the first time I went on a scale in months. I was shocked to have gained 15 pounds during the summer. I didn’t even know it was possible.

Getting old is no fun.
