Today was below average for me. While I was able to get about 8 hours of sleep (well.. 6 hours uninterrupted + 2 extra hours), I felt anxious and lonely pretty much the majority of the day owing to a work-related dream I had. In said dream, I was reviewing a unique document and provided my inputs to the requester, only to receive an email immediately after from a colleague re: guidelines how to review such a document (even if I did not tell anyone about it). While the dream itself is not really “that bad” - the fact that it had something to do with work triggered me since it’s been a while.

To kill the time and get distracted, I opted to continue watching the kdrama I’ve been keeping my tabs on for quite some time. I couldn’t shake the feeling off, however, so I opted for YouTube instead. That still didn’t work, however, so I chose to just lie down on the bed - idle. It was around 4:30 pm (it’s already 10:18 pm as of this writing) that I decided to stand up so I wouldn’t be late for the 6 pm mass.

The Gospel earlier focused on how the Pharisees criticized the disciples for not keeping to tradition e.g., cleaning/washing their hands before a meal. Jesus then called the Pharisees hypocrites, and stated that it is what comes out from inside that defiles. The homily centralized on the following points: 1. how law keeps everything in order, and in effect, hopefully turns us into better persons; 2. that God will measure as at the end in the parameter of love (of which his commandments are the cornerstone of); and 3. how traditions may not necessarily reflect what’s innermost (e.g., kissing our elders as a sign of respect, yet not having actual respect for said elders). It truly made me reflect once more.

After going home and having dinner, my mom called me up as well - her shoulder was bothering her for quite some time already, and physical therapy does not seem to do anything. I can only hope it’s nothing too serious. Times like today make me think that I wish we were filthy rich; maybe that way, we don’t have to worry as much.

Overall rating for the day: 6/10
