There are so many binaries in life that we are expected to be in one or the other but never in between them. Existing as I do sparks confusion: to be feminine with body hair and masculine with soft features. People expect me to act a certain way for how I look, and they don’t like when I don’t align with how they think I should be. It is odd because it almost inspires anger. I cannot just be who I am, be taken as I am, without confusion and bitterness from others regarding why I am not appealing to their assumptions. It circles around to what it means to be the perfect man or woman. Why are desires so often black or white? Why don’t people enjoy exploring the unknown?
