What You See Is What You Get! in Site Updates (Buffy)

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your patience during the upgrade! It’s been a wild ride, but those frustrating slowdowns should be behind us now, with more improvements to come. If you spot any bugs, please let us know through the new Submit Feedback form.

We’ve also started tackling spam. On the first day we added the Report Entry feature, over 70 entries were flagged—which led us to build some new anti-spam defenses that will be activated soon. 

Now, about that new editor... we've launched a visual editor! It's a simple, rich text editor that lets you format as you write. Click “Try out the visual editor” next to Preview when creating an entry, or select "Visual" as your editor style in Settings  For now, you'll only be able to edit entries with the editor originally used. The new visual editor will be the default for new users, but don’t worry, the existing markdown editor is here to stay if that's your preference.

For this first release, the visual editor includes:

• Font styles: bold, italic, underline, colors, highlights
• Text alignment: left, center, right, full, indent
• Linked media: images, YouTube videos, links
• Lists: bulleted, numbered
• Keyboard shortcuts

What's next?

1. We’ll keep improving the editor based on your feedback.

3. And we’re ramping up to fight the spammers.

Update 9/17/24: A bug has been fixed with auto saved drafts removing line breaks in the older markdown editor.
