Today was a good day. I was able to get a little over 7 hours of sleep, and didn’t have any weird dreams (or at least to the extent I remember). My parents were out when I woke up, so I had a nice lunch of beef stew with my grandmother.
I went out at around 1 pm in the afternoon (it’s already 12:05 in the morning as of this writing) to do some errands and have some me-time. I had a haircut and wandered a bit before going to mass.
Today is Corpus Christi, or the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, wherein we celebrate the presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. The priest centered his reflections on three areas, namely: a. Jesus promise to be always present; b. Jesus’ sacrifice; and c. communion. All great points were made on these items, but what really stood out was the 3rd. The priest emphasized that communion does not only hold its importance on the rituals and building a relationship with God; rather, it is also establishing ties with one another. For it is in the Eucharistic celebration that we are all considered equal.
After the mass, I went to another city to meet a friend. We had ramen and gyoza for “pre-dinner” and had coffee + pastries for dessert. It was really a good change of pace given the week’s pressure. It rained unexpectedly, however. That lasted for a good 3 hours and I arrived home at about 8:30 p.m. My parents and grandmother were just starting their dinner that time so I still got some time in to exchange banters with them.
All these into consideration, I did feel a wave of sadness when I was at mass. I had the urge to cry especially during the homily. It did go away after the celebration, however.
Overall, I’d still consider today almost perfect. I look forward to the week ahead. It’s been 11 weeks after the fact; one day at a time.
Overall rating for the day: 8/10
