I know I know I know. I’m just damaged that way. I do have the intention of writing but then I get all weird about it.

So. Piriformis Syndrome. After 3 months of such intense pain it made me sit on the floor at the grocery store, I have the official diagnosis and the treatment to go along with it.

A cortisone shot in my pelvis. That’s it. Well, PT at home, too. but I’ve been able to walk like a normal human being since I got it on Monday. With the correct exercises and stretches, I hope that it will stay tolerable.

I knew it was the Piriformis after all my other stuff that works for the SI joint dysfunction and the regular low back pain and sciatica didn’t do a damn bit of good. And yes, after I figured it out, I went right to YT to learn what kind of stuff I have to do. Convincing the Doctor that it was the piriformis took about a month, though.

Last weekend was one of the worst. I was popping norco like candy, which didn’t do a thing for the pain. I couldn’t even lay down without hurting quite badly. When I walked into the office to talk to the doc (the NP had exhausted her resources on me, so I get it) she offhandedly said ‘well, we can try a cort … ” and I jumped in and said ” YES! LET’S DO THAT, PLEASE!’ I was going to ask for one anyways, but sometimes convincing a doctor is impossible.

Don’t get me wrong, she’s a great doctor, but she is also smarter than I am, and has the papers to prove it lol I think she sometimes forgets that we used to work together at the hospital and I do have a tiny bit of medical knowledge. And, I advocate for myself like a bitch lol After dealing with some kind of pain related issue since childhood and not getting any answers until in my 30s, then still doctors wouldn’t listen to me… ugh Y’all know what it’s like. I’m not going to get into it rn.

I should have insisted on trying the cortisone shot after the pain got so bad I couldn’t work. Feh.

I’m wearing a hip brace and a foot brace on my left side. When I figured out wtf was going on, I started paying attention to myself. I tend to turn my foot and leg outwards when standing, vacuuming and all that crap. The braces help a little with that problem. And I’m trying like hell to be aware of what my body is doing. I forgot the hip brace today (omfg wearing that thing with it being hot out is not fun) and I can tell that I wasn’t standing correctly some of the time while I was working.

I think I’m still going to sit when doing dishes or anything else that keeps me on my feet for more than 15 minutes. Like 2 hours worth of laundry folding.

Now my leg muscles are hating me. Per usual, once I was able to walk, work, and everything, I tried to make up for lost time or some shit. I don’t know why I do that to myself smh.

keep your fingers crossed for me, m’kmay?

See ya.
