Fall day in At the foot of the hill

It’s cooler and cloudy this morning. The weather guys tell us to expect up to two inches of rain, starting any time now and going all day, all night, and most of the day tomorrow. I think I can handle that. And then it’s supposed to get nice again. I know I can handle that.
A few things going on around here.
Tuesday there was a flu shot clinic at our events center. The pharmacists from the WalMart across the street did this for us. My arm was sore for awhile later on in the afternoon, but I took a Tylenol and forgot I’d even had it.
This afternoon we have our monthly “Cocktails and Classics” gathering here at our events center. We are treated to food, wine, beer, or pop, a sandwich and garnishes, followed by top flight entertainment… Most of the entertainers are in our “senior” age bracket so the music they bring us is the old stuff that we love. This event is sponsored by a neighborhood bank.
Tomorrow is our regular Fabulous Fifties senior club potluck. Bob and I and two other ladies are “in charge” for this quarter. We will have to go early and set up chairs and decorate the tables. We have black and orange table covers and will use Halloween table decorations. The meal is “organized” potluck. I had to make the food assignments. I have to take appetizers. Don’t know what to make. I’m thinking maybe mini meatballs or sausages in barbeque sauce. Our program will feature the music of our (my!) favorite singer-songwriter, R. Michael Rhodes (she said shyly…)
Next week’s calendar has something written in for every day but Friday, and then Saturday we are looking for our daughter and son-in-law from Montana who are coming for a few days. Can’t wait to see them. We will have to get the “office” converted to guest room. It gets a little crowded but we can live with it.

Bob’s blood sugar levels seem to be out of control. He’s been doing good with his diabetes for quite a few years but he developed an intolerance for one of his meds and quit taking it. The doctor had him double up on the other med and he was holding for awhile, but it’s no longer working. Getting in to see the doctor has gotten to be a real hassle. (Thank you so much, Mr. Obama.)

I hope all my friends out there are enjoying beautiful Fall weather and have a great weekend.
