That's so 90's in Adventures in paradise

I’m at Brent’s place on The Gold Coast.
As expected, work called me in. I, however, decided to ask Brent if he still wanted me to come down. If he did, I would. If he didn’t, I’d agree to head into work.
It seemed to take ages for him to reply to my text! I should have just rang him, but I barely ever ring anyone as I’ve always hated talking on the phone and only do it when I feel I have to, like when friends ring me or I have to change an address or something. Its just me. Using phones for talking? That’s sooooo 90’s!
So I eventually got a reply, “Yeah sure come down,” so I replied to work’s text saying ‘sorry, can’t’ and stuck to my original plans of heading down here.
I mean sure, it’s money that would have been handy, but really? Is it worth it cancelling on a friend I only see maybe once every few months? I decided to go with the ‘poor but at least I’m living’ option and stayed down here the night.
It’s now nearly 8am and my mate is still asleep. I was very tired last night as I forced myself to stay awake to catch the hour-long train ride down here to hang out with him. If I chose to work, I probably would have gotten a nap in first, as I’ve been doing lately with my out of control sleeping pattern haha. I mean, heck, I woke up here at 7am when I’m sure I’ve gone to bed at that a couple of times over the past week.
We stayed up watching this movie that Brent likes called, “1000 Ways To Die In The West.”. It was pretty damn funny I have to admit, although with typical Seth MacFarlane humour. We’d grabbed a few snacks on the way here and I was glad to see I’d been paid. The train trip down was around $9 or so, so I must’ve just missed the peak fares. I was listening to the Sydney gay radio station all the way down. I’m surprised at how little data streaming live radio uses up. I miss my old housemate Josh being a host on there, as he’s pretty hilarious.
It’s the morning now, so I’m pretty much just waiting around for Brent to take me back to the train station. Work usually leaves me alone on Wednesday nights, but if I was asked to work, I could tonight.
Tomorrow night I can’t again though because I’ll be heading back down here for a catch-up/farewell dinner with Benji. I’ve asked Vish if he wants to come, but he said he’ll need to get off work if he does.
I just have a feeling work will ask me again, on the two nights this week I’ve already made plans…
I won’t know until it happens. Just going off from what previous weeks have been like.
I mean, at the end of the day, I figure that money isn’t going to hug me, call me daddy, or ask for a lap dance. I’m more likely to have fun creating experiences with my friends, even if they seem rather mediocre. The famous saying is ‘Time is money’, but I more-so go by the saying ‘I sacrifice time FOR money’, and I guess that’s helped shape me into the person I am today. I get by, and I take on extra shifts when it’s convenient. This week just isn’t one of those weeks. I mean, sure I’ll see Brent again, but Benji I won’t for at least two years, unless of course I miraculously come up with the cash to visit Sweden.
Kind of looking forward to getting home. It looks like a stunning day outside, again. I’d probably hit the beach again had I brought my stuff with me, but I didn’t, so yeah, back home to a sensible, domestic day again, although I’m pretty sure I’ll go for a walk to soak up some of these rays. I work nights so often that sunny days like this, and my Vitamin D intake, are a blessing.
