under my bed in Words that Rhyme

my mommy she shamed me
with a slap to the head
there’s nothing a lurking
under my bed

she’s tired of my whining
about what I still dread
it’s death come a calling
from under my bed

mom says there’s no monsters
or ghosts of the dead
just dust and my undies
and a cap off my head

every night I must look
no matter what mom said
cuz if I don’t take a peek
I’ll wake up quite dead

and if nothings beneath you
check the closet instead
