Good news, bad news and a joke in blackpropaganda

The first day of October - and it is much like most of September - bright and dry - although we did have some rain in the night. However it seems autumn is just waiting to rush in at the end of the week with wind and rain.
Not that that should affect us - we fly off to Spain tomorrow for two weeks, where the weather is quite unstable with thunderstorms - but still C25 degrees. We have an apartment there which is taken over by family members over the summer - so we are going to sort everything out - and try to put back everything which has been moved around and put away!
However, it is also a sad day today - we heard this morning that a great friend for many years has died from brain cancer. She was a vibrant woman, the centre of a loving family, and although the news was not unexpected following her treatment we did not think it would be so soon.
So we will miss her funeral - but will be in Spain for my birthday on Saturday - let’s hope the rain stays off.
