Is thank you out of style? in rants

A few months ago, I had been chatting with the vet tech at the office where I brought the cat. We started talking about books. I offered him one, then we started talking about his other interests. I ended up bringing two shopping bags with books - about 20 total. Not a word. He didn’t even come out from the back to take them from me!

Recently on FB, I’ve been giving away teaching material. One said thank you, one reimbursed me for postage. Otherwise NOTHING. I also gave away a high school yearbook. About a month later, the woman sent me a thank you note and money towards the cost of the book and the postage.

WTH? A simple thank you goes a LONG way!
