Aloha…

I thought I might write a bit more about the bonfire from my last entry…

Fourteen of us gathered around it… seeking a bit of warmth against the cool night air… and the fragrance of the burning wood… reminded me of past bonfires when I was a child…

I watched the smoke curl toward the darkening night sky… and not once during the whole time… did it drift towards any of us (go figure)…

Looking skyward… a myriad of stars twinkled… and I found myself looking for a “shooting star”… but it was not to be… or at least not to be seen by this writer…

We sat and talked story… lots of laughter… one of the children had curled up on her dad’s lap and fell asleep… a dog put his head on his owner’s leg… and enjoyed the attention of being petted… all the while being warmed by the fire…

About 11 pm… I decided to head on up the coast for home…

And on my drive… I thought to myself: “ya know Jim… it just doesn’t get a whole lot better than this”…

Aloha oe…
