Good morning my friends, how are we all doing this Thursday morning. It’s almost noon, but still morning here lol.

I’m doing alright here I suppose. It’s been a busy ass week and I’m still recovering, but I’ll get to that in just a bit.

My last entry was talking about my grandma passing. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to go to the funeral and all that, because it’s a 6.5 hour drive. We didn’t have the car registered or insured at that time (still not registered now but insured, registration tomorrow). So I had told my Tia Margie that we weren’t going to be able to go.

I was pretty upset about that and spent a lot of the days leading up to the funeral upset and crying about it, but I knew there wasn’t anything that I could do. We also didn’t have the money for a hotel room, so we wouldn’t have had anywhere to stay.

Rosary was going to be Thursday and the Funeral Friday morning. So I was just like man that sucks, I’m going to miss the whole family, etc.

Well Tuesday, my Aunt Lina (dad’s sister) calls and was asking when we were going to be leaving. I told her that we weren’t going to be able to go because of financial and other reasons. So she kinda made a few comments and then was like “what if I take you?” and I was like Immediately YES! She was just like I can’t handle your dogs though because I’m allergic.

I told her that was fine and that Randy would stay home with them and she and I could go.

So I came into the office and was like “Aunt Lina is taking me to Taos.” and although he wanted to go to be there with everyone, he was like “that’s awesome, go!”

So Wednesday, I went over to her house to get all the stuff situated and she booked a hotel room for Thursday and Friday night.

We left around 7 am on Thursday and the trip up was uneventful. Got to Taos around 2:30 and we had to meet at the Church by 5, so we got ready and then headed over.

The rosary was beautiful as usual, then we went back to Grandma’s house and spent the evening with the fam, had some food, etc. It was a good time. Then we went back to the hotel for the night about 9:30.

Friday morning we had to be at the church by 9:30 for the funeral mass. Then we went to the cemetery and laid her to rest right on top of my Grampa. Once that was over, we spent a little time there with mom and dad before heading back to the hotel to rest a bit and freshen up.

My Aunt fell asleep, so at like 2:30 I told her I would come back for her later and she called me just before 5 to pick her up. Then around 8:30 I took her back to the hotel and went back to the house. The “adults” left and went to rest, so the remaining grandkids (my generation) all stayed at Grandmas and had a good time. They were all drinking but I just drank my water lol. We had taken two shots for Grandma earlier in the day and that was enough for me lol.

But yeah, everyone sort of dispersed around Midnight so went back to the hotel then and got some sleep. We left early Saturday morning and ended up bringing my niece back with us because my brother wasn’t coming back until the following day (he had to drop our other brother off at the airport the next day). So her Nana came and picked her up in Hurley and then I dropped my aunt off, we went to the grocery store and then came home.

It was a whirlwind weekend but totally worth it. I’ve just been resting up since. I think I finally caught up on my sleep though so that’s good.

We don’t really have much going on these next couple of weeks though so I don’t have much to worry about.

We did lose Louis on Saturday. He was plucked out of the feeder bin, so unfortunately we knew that they weren’t going to last all that long. I have a feeling he choked. And with rats, they have no gag reflex, so if something gets stuck, there’s not a lot you can do to help them. They either work it out, or they die unfortunately. Louis was my Big Cheese. He weighed in at 888 grams the last time I had weighed him and he was by far our biggest rat.

I am still at a bit of a loss over that. It happened so suddenly. I went to check on them and I found him laying in the jail (toy we have for them) and he was gasping. I held him and tried to help him work whatever it was out and he just ended up passing in my hands. It was a bit traumatic, but he’s not the first to do it. It sucks so bad, and the rest of the boys are still kinda low from it.

Snikrit and Louis always fought, Louis would chase Snikrit. But Snikrit was BIG MAD when I showed him the body (they recommend doing that so they don’t think a rat was just taken from their mischief with no explanation). Snikrit got all puffed up and even tried to bite me later when I went to check on them all. He was so upset. But he calmed down a lot later into the evening. Blah, poor buddies.

Anywho, I don’t know what else to talk about. I suppose that is it. I hope you all have a great weekend. Take care!
