The image below is my natal chart. My complete astrological birth chart. It includes both the positions of the planets and the houses. Along with the aspects. The houses give us the horoscope. Imagine a blank zodiac chart. Like the crosshairs in a sniper rifle, for example, we have a blank chart that is fixed. 12 wedges. Each one is a house which is ruled by a sign and its planet. Each house tells us how we influence the world. At the time of birth, we take a screenshot of the sky above. Of the planets and their transits through the signs. All of that lands in a house. The sign rising in the east at the time you were born is called the ascendant. It lands in the first house. That is the sign I would read for if I was to read a generic horoscope. We need the time of birth within a ten-minute window to get the most accurate reading.
To simplify the image above, below is a list of the planet’s positions from that chart. It also lists the degrees. That is not something I will focus on in this entry. This list is not the houses. They are the personal planets. They describe your personality traits. We are all familiar with a sun sign. It is the sign that the sun is in when you are born. My birthday is January 6th, 1986. I was born at 1:23 p.m. in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. My sun sign is Capricorn.
We have to think of the planets as characters. Then we describe how these characters fair in the signs that they are in. It’s all about adapting to those conditions. Each planet has a home(s). They are comfortable there. They become less comfortable or more comfortable depending on the resources of the sign they are in. The moon’s home is in Cancer. It is domicile there. When it is in the opposite sign, Capricorn, it is in detriment. It is the furthest from home. In stable, dependable, reliable, Taurus, it is exalted. In the opposite sign of Taurus, Scorpio, the moon is fallen.
The conditions of the signs that I am referring to are not too complicated to understand. In Cancer, summer begins at the summer solstice. The longest day. There are a lot of resources in summer. In the opposite sign of Cancer, we have Capricorn. Winter begins at the winter solstice. The longest night. In Capricorn, there are no resources and one has to be resourceful. The sign’s planetary rulers play a role there as well.
We have the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice, the longest day and the longest night. Then we have the two equinoxes, equal night. These are the two days when day and night are equal lengths. This happens in Aries and Libra. Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn are the four cardinal signs that make the chart go round. These are where the seasons start. They are the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The most powerful of the zodiac, the natural born leaders. Following them are the fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio & Aquarius. They own the whole season. They are reliable but stubborn because they do not like change. Following them are the mutable signs. They like change. They are very adaptable because that is when the seasons change. Gemini, Virgo, Sagitarrius & Piesces.
Here is a brief description of what each planet represents in astrology. (Brought to you by ChatGPT.)

I shared the list of planets again. I’ll go through them.
Capricorn Sun: Capricorn is resourceful because of the long nights. The season is dry and cold. Capricorn is dry and cold. His humour is dry and he comes off cold. This is because Capricorn is an earth element. Earth signs do not find emotions practical. They turn them off and save them for later. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Saturn gives the best gifts. For a shortcut, you can use almost every S-word to describe Capricorn. Smart, sharp, sensual, sexy, sassy, etc. However, Saturn is a harsh ruler. He wants us to be the best. To make us wise he gives us a lot of problems. To make us strong he puts us under a lot of pressure. Capricorns are old souls because Saturn is an old soul. Capricorn has the reputation of being career orientated but I don’t agree with that. This reputation is because Capricorn rules the 10th house of career. Capricorn deals with all themes dark. They make great mystics. Because Saturn is a harsh ruler, Capricorn can be a harsh ruler. Very critical and judgemental. Bad cop, if you will.
Scorpio Moon: This is where the moon is fallen. The moon is emotions and reactions. Mars rules Scorpio. Mars is the god of war. It’s also ruled by Pluto. The planet of death and rebirth. This is the true power of Scorpio as far as I’m concerned. One of its ancient symbols was the phoenix. When I open someone’s birth chart the absolute first thing I look for is any and every Scorpio placement that I can find. These people learn to endure. This can also be a psychic placement. Everything is intense with a Scorpio moon but it all happens under the surface. Because it is ruled by Mars, people with strong Scorpio placements can be vengeful. Unlike Aries, who is ruled by Mars and will strike head-on, Scorpio will work in the shadows. In the depths. This is a very potent placement to have and my Mars is in Scorpio as well making this very energy overpowered. Pop astrologers and astrology enthusiasts, wince at a Scorpio Moon and/or Mars. They focus on the negative aspects of Scorpio. Scorpios are deep thinkers and feelers. They can sense things in their bones. It is a water sign which means it is ruled by emotion. They make great philosophers. They have a lot of charisma. Fair skin and facial scars tend to be a physical trait of prominent Scorpio placements. Also, sexual energy is their fuel source. Sex is where a Scorpio could feel creative, where they feel closest to god. The sun dies in Scorpio which is also why Scorpios can have that back-stabbing energy if they’re in their negative.
Capricorn Mercury: Mercury is the planet of communication and information. Capricorn is sharp. Mercury rules Gemini & Virgo. When it comes to a problem, Virgo just wants the answer. They will know it forever. Capricorn wants to know how you got the answer. They want to understand it so that they can solve future problems. Gemini wants to know why you don’t know the answer already. Mercury is a fast planet. It is never too far from the sun sign. It will fall in the same sign as the sun or in one of the ones beside it. Venus is the same but add an extra sign to where it may land.
Venus in Capricorn: Venus is the planet of partnerships. Capricorn is a builder. Venus Capricorns want to build things together. A family, a business, a house. A Capricorn Venus is very loyal and very serious.
Mars in Scorpio: Mars is the planet of action and conflict. It is a malefic. It is at home in Scorpio. As well as Aries. It exalts in Capricorn because Capricorn has self-discipline. Capricorn has amazing self-control. Scorpio is all about control. Giving a Scorpio Mars to a Capricorn? Just deadly. I digress. Scorpio Mars people are very magnetic and charismatic. They are strategic and calculating. Ever look into a Scorpio’s eyes? Or see a Scorpio quiet in a new environment? They’re always calculating. I can tell you that we are conscious of it. Everything downloads as a gut feeling. It’s hard to explain. Scorpio is very guarded. Scorpio has the charisma that you would think its sister sign Taurus has. This is the one placement that would make pop-astrologers and astrology enthusiasts wince. They would be afraid. These can be very intimidating people.
Those are what we call the big six. They are the personal planets. They give insights into a person’s personality. Jupiter is the great benefactor. It tells us where the universe doubles down for you. Saturn is the great malefic. It tells us where we need balance, boundaries and discipline. The last three planets are generational, more or less.
Above is the list of houses and the planets in those houses. For instance, I have a Capricorn sun in the 9H. My 9H is in Capricorn. The houses are the horoscope which tells us how we influence the world. Each house has a slogan which helps us understand the theme of each house. Again, each house is ruled by a sign. We always start with the first house, where it says ASC on the chart. That is the sign that was rising in the east at the time we are born. My ascendant is Taurus. Taurus is in my 1H. The first house is I AM. I am Taurus. The first house is our personality. What we project to the world. How we approach life. The planetary ruler of that sign becomes the ruler of the entire chart. Venus rules my chart.
What is a Taurus rising? Taurus is pants down the best sign. It’s just unanimous. It’s an earth sign. It’s sensual, it’s beauty. Taurus is dependable and reliable. It’s emotionally stable and easygoing. It owns spring so it has and wants everything in abundance. Taurus risings are usually beautiful. They present themselves well. They appreciate beauty and material things. They know how to succeed. However, an ascendant sign comes with a descendant. The 7H is the house of partnership. Its slogan is I Partner. This is my shadow self. The negative aspects of the sign in that house are what we bring to the table. My 7H is… Scorpio. Jealousy, secrecy, vindictive and vengeful. I’m a good girl though I swear!
As we go down the list of houses, the second house is I Have. It is ruled by Taurus and I have Gemini in my second house. This house tells me what I value. Gemini is information and communication. I value intelligence, essentially. It cascades from there. However, sometimes a sign gets intercepted. You may see that I have Cancer and Capricorn listed twice and Aires and Libra are missing. They didn’t quit land in a house, thus those are areas that I struggle with. Self and Partnership.
What we really want to focus on here are the planets in the houses. I have my Moon, Mars, Uranus, and South Node in the 6H. The 6H is ruled by Virgo and Virgo landed in my 6H. It is the house of I Serve. I am here to learn to be of service to others. Virgo is, in my opinion, the best sign. It is overpowered. A healed Virgo that is. They are ruled by Mercury and what do I value again? Intelligence. Virgo is internally restless. Their minds don’t stop. In September we are preparing for fall. This is why Virgo is internally restless and always anxious. Why they are hypercritical. The 6H is the house of routine, physical and mental health. These people are the real healers of the zodiac. This is the area of self-improvement. People’s relationship with health, with these placements, are extreme whichever direction they go. We all know what I do for health. It’s intense. This explains my passion for health as I’m pursuing an education for it. For naturopathy, of course. Between Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo here, I have strong earth energy. Earth is the body. The 6H also has a reputation for being the house of misfortune because these are hard lessons to learn.
I also have a lot of focus on the 8H. The 8H is ruled by Scorpio. Its slogan is Kill Everyone. Kidding! I Circulate is the slogan of the 8H. It’s sex, death, regeneration, shared resources, letting go, etc. It landed in Sagittarius. This is already a great placement for philosophy. Scorpio gets fixated and obsessed. They want to get to the bottom of things. Sagittarius is willing to go where no man will go. What a great pair! As far as I’m concerned. I have Mercury, Uranus and Neptune in this house. These are some psychic placements. I was thinking about this today, actually. We live in space but behind space is counter-space. That is where our thoughts and emotions are. Scorpios think in pictures. HD images. That is counter-space. Scorpio is connected to death, the other side.
I have Saturn in the 7H. Saturn is the great malefic. The slogan for the 7H is I Partner. It is the house of partnership. Also the descendant. Guess what Saturn in the 7H means? This is an area of struggle for me. It’s not necessarily a bad placement. There is no good or bad in astrology. Relationships are very serious with this placement. They take a long time to develop and mature. I need a lot of balance here. I still have Scorpio in the 7H so I need a lot of control. I need to let go of control, more like. My standards are sky-high already with Capricorn, Taurus and my 6H stellium.
I have my sun in the 9H. Sagittarius rules the 9H. This is a potent placement. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and this house. Jupiter wants to expand. The 9H is in Capricorn, as I mentioned earlier. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn who creates balance by restricting the other planets. The 9H is the house of I Explore and it is about philosophy, higher education, and religion. Occultism if you will. My Scorpio and Capricorn placements scream occultism enough and I have my sun in the 9H to amplify that even further. I give off strong Sagittarius energy IRL. Sag is always doing the most, sure. They can have massive personalities if it is not watered down. Toxic optimism is another trait they can have but I’m too Capricorn-heavy to be that deluded. However, I do have a go-getter attitude which helps lighten the heavy load of my Capricorn and Scorpio placements.
My Venus is also in the 9H. This can make someone a little shallow but it also makes one open-minded. These natives search for higher meanings and purpose. This is more philosophy. Venus is the other benefactor.
Chiron is a comet that I’m not going to get into. It’s the wound. Mine is Gemini which demands a lot of information. It’s in the 1H which indicates a lot of self-esteem issues regarding my physical body. The North and South Nodes are not physical bodies but mathematical points in astrology. They are where the moon’s orbit intersects the ecliptic of the sun. It is associated with the destiny and the soul’s purpose. Mine is in Taurus and in the 12H. This is trouble. The 12H is I Dream. It is the house of self-sabotage. As well as themes of solitude and transcendence. This puts my South Node in Scorpio and in the 6H.
I have Jupiter in the 10H. The 10H is ruled by Capricorn and it is the house of I Achieve. It is the house of career and status. I’m already a Taurus rising who should be mad successful and I have a Capricorn sun, with the great benefactor in the house of career I should be super successful but I am not. However, Jupiter and Saturn are slow-moving planets. Success comes late. Relationships are slow to develop. Just a glacial pace all around. Big things have small beginnings. Of course, I don’t measure success by career and wealth. I measure it by character and choices. So this still makes me unsuccessful lol.
So that’s the gist of my chart. I tried to educate along the way. I’m not getting into the aspects. Conjunctions and textiles, etc. My chart is heavy with those as well. As you can see, everything is in one corner of the chart. It’s a day chart, as everything is on top. This is positive. I have a very powerful chart if I do say so myself. Even though it is still dark and full of terrors.
Not everybody believes in astrology which is what it is. It is the key that unlocks the answers of the universe. We learn that it was the universal system that connected us all across history and culture. Religion, as we understand, was a big science lesson in physics. Metaphysics. Matter is light slowed down. God is the aether, zero-point energy. We are here to become a point of singularity between space and counter-space. This journey transcends over many lifetimes. We are soul-trapped because of dogma. I digress.
To use astrology, like actually use it, is the left-hand path. No judgement! It’s toxic enough trying to psychoanalyze everybody through their birth chart but if someone’s chart fell into the wrong hands, damage could be done. I could use it to manipulate others, for instance. If I see Libra in the big three, Sun, Moon, and Rising, then I know they are people pleasers who hate conflict. If I see Cancer and Pisces then I know they will ignore all red flags and try and see the best in people. If I see Virgo, then I know they will struggle with boundaries for themselves and broken people. If I see Sagittarius… I will try to take them home and do R-rated things to them. What is higher than an R-rating?! I digress again. This was a long-ass entry that nobody is going to read lol.
